There's a huge emphasis on class participation, practical assignments, and direct communication.
Tips: Before joining students from India should know that the academic culture is very different. Here there's a huge emphasis on class participation, practical assignments and direct communication with professors, which isn't always common back home. Also be prepared for the weather; moving from the heat of Bareilly to the snowy winters of the Northeast US is a major change, so invest in good winter clothing. My transition has been a journey of growth. The university has a strong support system for international students, which helped me settle in. The biggest cultural shift was the sense of independence and the fast paced structured lifestyle. People are very punctual and you are expected to manage your time from academics to chores, all by yourself. It was challenging at first but it has made me much more self-reliant. I was fortunate to receive the 'Dean's Merit Scholarship' based on my academic performance in high school and my application profile. It wasn't something I applied for separately; it was automatically awarded with my admission offer.
Likes (Indian Food): I was genuinely surprised by the amazing availability of authentic Indian food for a city of this size. There are several dedicated Indian grocery stores where I can find all the spices, lentils and fresh produce like okra and paneer which makes cooking food from home really easy. The locality has a great mix of restaurants. You can find several Indian places, both North and South Indian cuisine, along with Italian, Vietnamese, Mexican, and classic American diners. A meal at a casual, mid-range restaurant typically costs between 15 and 25. Personally, I prefer cooking for myself on most weekdays to save money and eat healthily. But on weekends, I love exploring the local restaurants with my friends. It's the perfect balance.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): The university provides excellent support the US immigration system itself is complex and competitive. Binghamton's Fleishman Career Centre and the ISSS International Student and Scholar Services office are fantastic; they offer workshops on CPT/OPT and connect us with employers who have a history of sponsoring international students. Honestly my chances for permanent settlement are decent but certainly not guaranteed. As a STEM major the 3 year OPT extension is a significant advantage. However it ultimately depends on securing a job with a company willing to sponsor an H-1B visa and then winning the visa lottery. Given the chance I would definitely consider permanent immigration. The professional opportunities and global exposure here are incredible and building a career in my field would be a great outcome of my education.

Binghamton University is worth for the money for Master's in CS.
Tips: Before joining, students should know that the weather in Binghamton can be very cold and snowy during the winter months. The coursework is competitive, but the professors are understanding and will work with you to ensure that you have enough time to complete your assignments. For computer science, the courses are valuable and worth the money. Overall, I am highly satisfied with my experiences.
Likes (Safety): Binghamton University is in a college town, so you'll mostly see students there. The university provides frequent college buses and public transportation, so you don't have to rely on cabs or other forms of transportation. Compared to city-based colleges, I would say Binghamton is quite safe.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Immigration is a major issue in the United States right now and the government is trying to control it. It's very difficult to find a job in the United States that will sponsor your visa. In fact, most companies will only sponsor employees who already have a green card. This means that if you're an immigrant looking for a job in the United States you'll need to have a green card before you can even start applying for jobs.

Peaceful University to study
Tips: International students should apply for on-campus part-time jobs well before joining this university (considering, the student has finalized his/her admission to the university). Since the university lies in upstate New York, they should consider carrying winter clothes.
Likes (Public transportation): Public transportation is free for University students. Transportation includes both University buses as well as county buses. Public transportation is available on both weekends and weekdays where students can commute to grocery stores such as Walmart, Target, etc.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Only 2 Indian restaurants are available, which are 3+ miles away from student housing. Most international students do not own a vehicle to commute. Therefore, it is tedious to travel to such long destinations for Indian restaurants and public transportation would not be available after a dedicated time.

Good university to learn and grow with multiple opportunities.
Tips: One should have good coding knowledge to join this as a CS student.
If you excel in your first semester you will get a teaching assistantship and that semester's full fee will be waived off as a scholarship.
If you have a good command of coding you will learn a lot at the university.
Likes (Part time work): There are various campus part time jobs available in the university, one can easily get part time.
And the the expenses are less when compared to other states. One can easily manage their expenses if they get part-time in the university and a student is not supposed to work off-campus

The university is good in terms of education and amenities they offer.
Tips: Initially, it was a bit of an adjustment, especially the independence, time management, and informal classroom culture. Instructors encourage discussions, critical thinking, and questioning, which is quite different from rote-based learning in India. Social interactions are more individualistic, and it takes effort to build connections. The college has a lot of tie-ups. Students should know that Binghamton is academically rigorous with a strong research focus, especially in computer science, engineering, and business. Professors are approachable but expect consistent effort. The weather can be cold for much of the year, so be prepared for winter. It's a quiet, suburban campus—ideal for focused study. Career services are active, but you must be proactive in seeking internships and networking. But overall, it has helped me become more self-reliant and confident.

Great college and great experience.
Tips: It's gonna be a cultural reset but it's gonna be fun joining different club events and also the faculty members are very helpful to your needs. The people around you, be it the students or the members, are gonna motivate you to strive harder and harder each day.
Likes (Internships): I have a great connection here for my internship search through college career fest and other supporting alumni groups that guide us through the process and help us bag an internship, end of the day so getting an internship is gonna be easy, keeping you put in the work for it.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Keeping the current government situation in mind I don't feel a permanent settlement here is gonna be easy. The visa situation is pretty bad when it comes to the H1B so not sure how things are going to turn out. But still the OPT of three years are well enough to get your ROI.

Stevens Institute of Technology is good and helps us to be career focused.
Tips: Before joining Steven's students should know that it is academically rigorous with its strong focus on STEM and business. Its proximity to New York City offers great career opportunities but the cultural shift can be noticeable scholarships are competitive, and the career services are excellent. The faculty are very knowledgeable and will help you with anything. There are lots of seminars held on our college campus to explore our potential and make connections.

Good return on investment.
Tips: This course is little expensive than others but could cover this cost of post graduation with a competing job.
You must be proactive in searching for jobs if you are going for Cybersecurity degree since they do a different and difficult recruiting process for it. Overall it is a good college.
Likes (Safety): It is a very safe locality with cops patrolling 24/7 around campus, there is a separate police and emergency line for the students, and they are available and very helpful when in need, which I experienced first hand. There are also safety drills conducted.
Dislikes (Part time work): There are very few openings on part time since it is a small campus they do not recruit many students and our cost of living here is very expensive. So it is a little frustrating as I am in my 2nd year and still did not get any part time in the University.

The university is very good and really gets into the practical subjects.
Tips: There are plenty of opportunities if you study for a master's in CS here. The environment of the university itself is also suitable for studying for a master's. In addition, the classes are good, the faculty is very understanding and helps us with our projects, and it's a good university to attend, as we have numerous events and club activities hosted on campus.

A transformative financial journey with real world exposure.
Tips: Coming from India to New York City was a real culture shock, but Stevens made the transition a lot smoother than it might have been. The emphasis on participation and independence was a real shift from how classes were done back home, but it helped me grow and adapt more quickly. I’m glad I was able to study there, and I'm particularly grateful for the program’s fast pace and industry focus, the course faculty, and all the opportunities I had to be exposed to the city. The MSM Finance program is ideal for those who want to dive deep into a specific field.
