Brought out my potential.
Tips: I would say that I underestimated the workload here, and after a semester or so, I realised the true intensity of studying. You're also surrounded by some of the smartest and intellectually curious individuals, which certainly helps in broadening your way of thinking. Out of classroom exposure is emphasised as much as within the classrooms, so make sure you get a chance to experience it all.

Very academic environment.
Tips: The first thing I would emphasise is to plan financially, as CMU does not give out scholarships easily, and even if you get one, it is extremely competitive to maintain it as well. Plus, there are no part-time jobs outside of campus to help make ends meet. Being a part of the Indian student association has helped me get comfortable here and given me friends I can rely on. Also, relatively grading is the norm, and if you're stuck early on, please reach out to your professors; they are happy to help.

Place to aspire to study.
Tips: I have experienced a lot of change in my attitude and outlook on how I perceive things and situations. CMU has a very global campus, so you'll meet people from all over the world, especially India. Lots of resources as well, which you should make use of. People can be a bit more reserved than you'd expect, and the classes have a very high academic standard. Try not to burn out during your time here.

Good place and friendly people.
Tips: CMU is one of the most reputed institutions in the USA for various reasons. The quality of education and teaching is among the best. Our professors are well-known in their industries, and students gain a lot of independence. It's also very competitive. While most of us came here for work and settlement opportunities, the current situation makes that seem unrealistic. However, there is a supportive community.

Competitive and studious environment.
Tips: I came here with an open mind and a willingness to learn, which are important for enjoying what CMU has to offer. The post-work situation is complicated, as companies don't offer sponsorships as easily anymore. While I didn't receive a scholarship, I did get early admission, which made my decision to study here easier.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): There are very limited job opportunities here in the United States, so be prepared for the challenges, which may take a few years to overcome. Many companies are unwilling to offer sponsorships, which complicates the process.

Experience to cherish.
Tips: My transition here was smooth and my initial anxieties were short-lived as there are so many students on the same boat. The administration did a good job with the orientation and ensuring that new students were given assistance to their needs. In terms of academics, classes are competitive and relatively grading can seriously test you.

Great faculty and demanding academics.
Tips: The academic workload is demanding, with many assignments and projects, but there are many exciting opportunities to explore. The campus is very active, and I highly recommend joining a club or two to fully immerse yourself in the CMU experience. Students from diverse backgrounds come here, and it's a great place for those who are truly qualified. Make the most of it! Overall, I am very satisfied.

Exceptional faculty and a diverse campus.
Tips: You will get to experience teaching in its various forms, and the labs here are incredible. What I like about CMU is that it continuously upgrades itself, but if you're looking for a more traditional experience, this program might not be ideal. It's quite expensive without a decent scholarship or some form of financial aid, so plan accordingly.

Great program but gloomy weather.
Tips: My program is very niche but has a lot of potential. You will be guided by some of the best in the industry, and none of your learning will go to waste. It is becoming more challenging for international students to get a break, but it is bound to pay off somewhere. People appreciate straightforwardness and less reading between the lines.

Tips: This is both one of the most challenging and competitive programs, with its ups and downs. It will bring out the best in you, but it can also lead to burnout, so please remember to take care of yourselves. Plagiarism is strictly restricted, so clarify any doubts before submitting assignments. CMU also attracts good recruiters.

There are very few, limited slots for on-campus part-time opportunities.
Tips: CMU is an academic playground, and you can expect to juggle multiple things simultaneously. Don't get overwhelmed, as the campus is welcoming, and the professors are understanding. You'll have ample opportunities to participate in case studies and experiments if that interests you.
Dislikes (Part time work): Honestly, there are no part-time work opportunities, certainly not off-campus. There are very few, limited slots for on-campus positions as well. You'll have better luck finding a hybrid position elsewhere if you need one, as your schedule may not allow it.

Fulfilling place to be in.
Tips: You will be surrounded by some truly passionate people and professors, and the pressure to achieve can get real. There are some popular food stops near campus for Indians, although they may not be as good as what you get back home. CMU allows experimenting with majors, like if you're doing STEM, you can minor in digital marketing. The matches and games are events that people on campus cherish. You should keep an open mind, and you'll have a good time.

Tips: My programme is very detailed and involves a lot of tech, business and strategy, as well as forcing you to think beyond your expectations. On-campus part-time positions are limited and fill up quickly.
Tips: The classes are project-based learning and heavy case studies. Classes often revolve around discussions and debates. Along with this, you'll have to learn how to present your thoughts and ideas, especially as these are graded and contribute to the overall GPA.
Dislikes (Part time work): Well, on-campus part-time positions are limited and they fill up pretty fast, especially in the library and with professors. It is highly competitive, and we are not allowed to work part time off campus as well.

Ideal place to thrive.
Tips: I have seen myself transition a lot after I started studying here. My experience has been somewhat positive, although it's been a real challenge trying to keep up with my classes and managing my energy here. Work experience is significantly valued here while applying for admissions, and I have been shortlisted for a few roles as well, thanks to CMU. There are also plenty of housing options and accommodations to choose from.

Tips: It is a very welcoming and energetic campus with people of all sorts, including a ton of diversity. Overwhelming but worthwhile.
Tips: Everything here moves at a fast pace, and the feeling of the East Coast is entirely different from the West Coast. Be fully prepared before joining, as professors expect you to be more independent.
Tips: I had a great time here, and that's largely because I was mentally prepared and came with a decent scholarship. Otherwise, expenses can really add up. The people here are individualistic, and professors expect you to be more independent, which was something I struggled with. I recommend being open to collaborations and projects, as they stand out more than your GPA.

Tips: I have seen changes in myself after moving here. The culture shock wasn't intense, but it was present, and it took me some time to get used to the abruptness and demeanour of the locals, as they can be a lot more straightforward than expected. There's a hackathon almost every other week to keep our skills sharp.
Tips: There are tons of events on campus, and there's a hackathon almost every other week to keep my skills sharp. It's easy to make connections with people from other majors because of these events, and it's a great way to make friends, too. Of course, not everything is perfect. One of the first things that really hit me was the weather and how cold it can get, so you'd better come prepared. Plus, the campus Wi-Fi is a bit unreliable, so make sure you're ahead of your work so you don't get caught when it inevitably goes out.

Tips: This university has really managed to teach me what is necessary to learn and has exceeded my expectations in various ways. The curriculum is pretty flexible, and so are the professors here. UMass is a fun university
Tips: I think students should know how to communicate because it's the most important thing that I came across. I didn't know anything about scholarships but Shiksha helped me with that. On a scale 1 to 10, I'll rate 8 for the university, course and country I'll rate 6 because of their health care system.
Likes (Indian Food): There are several Indian restaurants in Boston. But I prefer cooking at home as it is healthy and pocket-friendly. There are lots of Indian grocery stores, where we mostly get all the Indian vegetables as most vegetarian students that I know have no issue finding the food/vegetarian food they like.
Dislikes (Quality of faculty): Few of the professors are not from United States, therefore it becomes difficult to understand their accents. Otherwise, their experience in the particular field is what a student gets the most help from. We have post discussion every week, an assignment exam every 2 weeks, then weekly presentations and group presentations. And a mid term and final exam.

It is just fine, not worth the amount of money I am paying. But just okay.
Tips: I have had a massive change in my personality. There is not a big cultural shift as all the masters' students are Indians, so you feel at home and don’t rely on getting international exposure a lot until you meet different people. I got a total of 4k off my tuition in terms of scholarship. Overall, the college and course is just fine.
Likes (Internships): Internships are not a lot, you can always make connections and talk to career services. You can also talk to alumni or your professors.
There is, but there is a lot of fight seeing how bad the market is right now and how competitive the market is. All you can do is keep applying.
Dislikes (Indian Food): I usually go with what is the cheapest. Usually Uber eats have a lot deals on a daily basis where you can get buy1 get 1 and I am a non vegetarian so I have a lot of options for myself. For vegetarians, you might have options, but it would be less.
Usually cooking by myself, but sometimes you can cheat
