A Supportive University with Strong Learning Opportunities.
Tips: Students should prepare for independent study, paperwork and learning German. The cultural shift was challenging initially, but I adapted gradually. I did not receive a scholarship. Overall I am satisfied with the university, course and life in Germany.
Likes (Public transportation): Giving Public Transportation a 5/5 was an easy choice because moving between campuses and getting around Bavaria is seamless as a KU student. The upgraded Deutschlandticket / Semesterticket model is a total game-changer—for roughly €29 a month (thanks to the Bavarian student discount), you get unlimited travel on local buses, trams, and regional trains across the whole country.
You don't need to stress about buying single tickets every time you travel. It covers everything—the INVG buses in Ingolstadt, the Agilis regional train over to Eichstätt Bahnhof, and even weekend trips out to Munich or Nuremberg. The connections run right on time, stop super close to campus facilities in both towns, and save you an absolute fortune on travel costs as an international student.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Because post-study jobs exist, but visa sponsorship is limited and competition is high. German proficiency at B2-C1 is important for most jobs. Most roles in IT, engineering, finance, and analytics have salaries around €40000-€60000, but the job market is challenging.

Be ready to move out of your comfort zone.
Tips: Students are very confident. One thing that really hit me after moving here was how confident European students are in class and how seriously they take their coursework. Back home, people tend to be a bit more hesitant to speak up or push back, and adjusting to that culture shift was a pretty big learning curve for me personally. I did not get any scholarships, but yes, there are a few options for that. I do not have many details on the same, though. I am fully satisfied with my university and course.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The faculties are very supportive and encouraging not only for the studies but also regarding the professional opportunities as well as individual personalities. The overall teaching approach of the university is very practical, and faculties make sure it reaches us correctly. Plus, though the permanent faculties do not show much diversity, we have numerous guest lectures and industry professionals in some of the courses, which are widely diverse.
Dislikes (Indian Food): I have rated it average, as it is specifically concerned about food options from my own country. There are a few Indian restaurants, but the taste isn’t as good as what we expect from an Indian restaurant. Considering the locals here, they have to keep the flavors quite minimal as well as quite balanced, which restricts them in taste quality. Plus, it feels a little expensive. Hence, I prefer to cook by myself.

A Great Learning Experience with Practical Exposure
Tips: If you're coming to KU, the biggest thing to brace yourself for is the academic shift. The German university system expects a massive amount of self-direction. You won't have professors micromanaging your schedule; instead, you're expected to take total ownership of your research papers (Hausarbeiten), group projects, and seminar presentations. Even if your program is entirely in English, do yourself a favor and start learning basic conversational German before you arrive—it makes dealing with local shops, government offices, and finding a part-time job infinitely less stressful.
I paid for everything through savings and family backing without any scholarships, but looking back, it's been worth every cent. The campus atmosphere—especially in quiet, picturesque Eichstätt—is super peaceful and safe, which makes it really easy to focus without the overwhelming chaos of a giant metropolis. The professors are surprisingly accessible and actually take the time to know your name, which you rarely get at bigger German universities. If you're ready to be independent and enjoy a more close-knit community vibe, you'll love it here.
Likes (Public transportation): The transit connection here is honestly one of the best perks of being a student at KU. Since the university is split across two main hubs—Eichstätt and Ingolstadt—you depend a lot on public transit, and it delivers. Your student ID includes a solid semester ticket that covers the local buses and regional trains, and pairing that with the discounted €29 Deutschlandticket for students in Bavaria gives you practically unlimited travel across the whole region for next to nothing.
Getting between the Eichstätt campus, the main train station (Eichstätt Bahnhof), and Ingolstadt is super smooth using the local DB regional trains. The buses running through both towns are punctual, ridiculously clean, and make hitting up the grocery stores or train stations or heading into Munich for the weekend totally hassle-free. You genuinely don't need a car at all to live comfortably here.
Dislikes (Part time work): I had to give part-time work a low rating because trying to find a job here without solid German skills is a complete headache. Eichstätt and Ingolstadt aren't like Berlin or Munich where you can easily land an English-speaking gig in a cafe or delivery service. In a smaller Bavarian town, local businesses expect you to speak German fluently. The tiny pool of English-only jobs—usually Werkstudent tech roles or English tutoring—gets flooded with hundreds of applicants from international students, so competition is ridiculously fierce.
If you speak decent German, your chances skyrocket, but until then, it takes months of constantly checking job portals just to get a single interview. Once you finally land something, the pay is fair (typically around €13 to €16 an hour, or the standard €538 minijob cap) and balancing 15 to 20 hours a week with university coursework is pretty doable. But if you're coming here relying on finding a part-time job immediately to cover your living expenses, you're going to be under a ton of stress

A great International learning experience at KU Ingolstadt
Tips: The biggest thing you need to realize before coming to KU Eichstätt-Ingolstadt is that nobody is going to hold your hand academically. The professors here expect you to do the heavy lifting on your own—you have to manage your own study schedule, actually speak up and participate in seminars, and stay on top of deadlines without anyone reminding you.
When I first arrived in Germany, it was honestly a massive shock to the system. Trying to navigate the language barrier, getting used to quiet Bavarian life, and figuring out a completely different, highly independent university system felt incredibly overwhelming at the start. It takes time to find your footing and adapt to how things work here, but if you stick with it and actively try to integrate, the campus community is small enough that you'll gradually start feeling comfortable and at home.
Likes (Student Life): Honestly, the main reason I gave student life a full rating is just how easy it is to actually make friends here. Since KU Eichstätt is on the smaller side, you don’t get that cold, faceless vibe of a massive city university. Most of my days are just a casual mix of heading to classes, grabbing a spot on the Hofgarten lawn to finish up group projects, and chatting with people who have moved here from all over the world. Getting to hang out with international classmates and just swap stories about our different lives has easily been the coolest part of studying here. It’s a super relaxed, friendly campus where people actually look out for each other.
Dislikes (Indian Food): I rated food options from my country of origin as a 1 because Indian food options near the university are very limited. There are mainly German, Italian, Turkish, and Asian restaurants, with meals generally costing around €8-15. I prefer cooking myself because it is more affordable and also because I'm vegetarian, so options are very limited at restaurants.

Supportive college with Great learning environment and future job opportunities.
Tips: If you’re coming to KU Eichstätt-Ingolstadt, just know you aren't going to be a random face in a massive 500-person lecture hall. Especially if you're over at the WFI business school in Ingolstadt, the classes are tiny. Honestly, it can feel a bit intense at the start because you literally cannot hide from the professors. They expect everyone to speak up and actually argue points during seminars, which takes some serious getting used to if you're shy. But because the campus is so small, you end up knowing everyone and it actually feels like a proper community. I’ve really loved the personal vibe here—it completely changes how you study.

Hochschule Darmstadt Review
Tips: The university is very course- and syllabus-oriented. Attending lectures is important, unlike TUs. If preparing well, you can complete the course in 2 years. Hochschule Darmstadt provides good practical knowledge. They provide scholarships also; we can find them on the university website.
Likes (Value for money): Students have flexible time to study and also manage part-time work. If you're looking. For. Job or part-time Along with work, then the exams and semester can be planned accordingly, and you can manage both. I would recommend HDA for the same reason.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Faculty are industry-experienced and have great knowledge. They teach theory and lab as well. Teachers have experience from famous MNCs in Germany. They are very friendly and guide us through all doubts and also prepare us for exams. They also help us with our projects and thesis.

Great faculty and strong exposure to industry.
Tips: Being fluent in German is very, very important. Not only will it be easier for you to attend the lectures given by your professors but you will also struggle to make a good proper, structured friend circle, if you are not fluent in German. Also, Germans take punctuality very seriously including public transport etiquette.
Likes (Value for money): The semester fee is less than 400 euros for 6 months.
You get a ticket in which public transportation is covered as well. Ofcourse for private studienkolleg it's very expensive, but Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences is public. You also get a pass with which you can enter libraries. You can access the library Wi-Fi as well, using your student number. So I would say it's a pretty good value for money.
Dislikes (Internships): Professors are themselves tied to industries, so it's easier to get an insight into what you want. Furthermore they are extremely helpful; all of the studies are done in an interactive manner, making it easier to understand and develop new skills.

A skill development oriented university with a lot of practical exercises to develop oneself.
Tips: The exams are very different from the ones in India. I must add that you are not spoon-fed knowledge. You need to understand the core concepts before you will be able to clear the exams. One thing to keep in mind is that there are no scholarships available from the university, as the fees are pretty much free. Another thing that could be considered a perk is that if you really shine, you will have the opportunity to work with the professor on challenging projects.
Likes (Value for money): The quality of the lectures is good. The university focuses on practical exercises of high standards that develop your skillset. The fees are definitely justified. We get a free mandatory German course and a semester ticket for the Deutschland regional train network that allows us to travel all over Germany.
Dislikes (Part time work): Language is the main problem in finding a part-time job. You still have options to work at a snacks factory, McDonald's, or an Amazon warehouse. It’s a bit difficult to manage both a part-time job and studies if you plan on taking all the subjects of the semester. The average basic pay is about 12.7 €.
