A Memorable Academic Journey at Tsinghua University
Tips: Learn some basic Chinese, and be ready to work independently in research.
The main differences were the language, food, and culture, but I adapted within a few months.
I received a partial tuition fee scholarship of 20,000 Yuan for my first academic year. For the following two academic years, I received the Excellence Scholarship of 30,000 Yuan per year.
The university has excellent faculty and research facilities, and studying in China has been a great learning experience.
Likes (Public transportation): I rated 5/5 for public transportation because China has one of the best public transportation systems in the world. The campus is well connected to the city through an extensive network of metro lines and public buses, making daily travel easy and convenient. For intercity travel, the high-speed rail network is fast, comfortable, and reliable. Public transportation is also very affordable, clean, safe, and punctual, making it an excellent option for both students and tourists.
Dislikes (Part time work): I rated it 3/5 because the biggest challenge is the language barrier. Most on-campus assistant jobs require Chinese proficiency, limiting opportunities for international students. However, students can apply for International Student Ambassador roles and a few English-based positions
