Tips: If you're thinking about joining TEDI-London, the main thing you need to know is that it completely flips traditional engineering education on its head. My experience here has been awesome, but it's not a normal university setup. You won't be sitting in giant lecture halls copying down notes. Instead, the whole curriculum is built around hands-on, real-world design briefs. The faculty don't just lecture at you—they work alongside you as mentors in the makerspace, helping you bridge the gap between heavy math theory and actually building prototypes. The campus itself is based in Canada Water, and the facilities are brand new and top-tier. Because the uni is heavily backed by founding partners like PLuS Alliance and massive industry players like British Land, the networking opportunities are huge. You're constantly interacting with real engineers, doing industry workshops and working on projects that actually matter to the corporate world, which makes landing an internship or a job way more straightforward. It’s a super safe, close-knit, and friendly environment, but you have to be ready to collaborate in teams constantly. If you want a standard degree, look elsewhere, but if you want practical skills and an immediate foot in the door with employers, it’s 100% worth it.
Dislikes (Quality of faculty): I rated the faculty low because TEDI-London’s whole 'project-based learning' setup means the teachers don't actually teach in the traditional sense. If you come here expecting normal engineering professors who will stand at the front of a theater, write out equations, and walk you through step-by-step theories, you're going to be incredibly frustrated. Instead, the staff act more like workplace managers or workplace mentors. They give you a real-world design brief, point you toward their online learning modules, and then basically leave you to struggle through it with your team in the makerspace. Sure, they're friendly and knowledgeable when you actively track them down in Canada Water, but their hands-off style feels less like actual supportive teaching and more like paying a premium to teach yourself. They always hype up how these industry projects build your communication and technical skills. But the second you get stuck on an actual engineering concept, you're screwed. Without real lectures or direct teaching, the whole setup just feels completely chaotic and stressful.
