MS in European Master in Embedded Computing Systems - Batch of 2026
4.2
Good student life but shortage of future opportunities.
Tips: You must know that Kaiserslautern is a small city. Tech part time jobs are less here. This can affect you. I received an Erasmus Mundus scholarship from Erasmus as part of the European Union Consortium. I received 1000 euros per month as an allowance. There is another scholarship you can apply for after you come here, which is the DAAD. Gives around 350 euros per month. Not majorly satisfied with the University. Administration work is very lengthy. Teaching is average.
Likes (Value for money): Kaiserslautern is a small city. Living expenses come around to 650-850 euros per month for a single person, including rent. For a student at RPTU, that's a good thing. You get free public transport along with other benefits of being a student. Part time jobs are fairly available but you have to look hard for them. It might take a month or two to find.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): There are many companies available to sponsor. The job opportunities are relatively less as compared to the past 4 years. The competition has increased as the number of people coming to Germany has increased. After Master's, one can expect a salary starting from 50,000 - 65,000 Euros.

Master of Science in Commercial Vehicle Technology - Batch of 2026
5.0
A great place for learning and personal growth.
Tips: The university emphasises independent learning, time management and active participation, so being active is important for success. My transition was smooth, though there was an initial cultural shift in terms of teaching style, communication, and lifestyle which became comfortable with time. I am very satisfied with the university and the course.
Dislikes (Quality of faculty): Professors are highly qualified experienced and consistently deliver high quality teaching with a strong balance of theory and practical application. The faculty is very approachable and accessible through office hours and emails and they actively support students with academic projects research and career guidance.

Master of Science Digital transformation - Batch of 2027
Offered by Fachhochschule Dortmund
3.7
Strong Academics and Flexibilities with Room for More Student Engagement
Tips: Before coming to FH Dortmund, be ready for a high degree of academic independence. The practical, applied teaching style here is great, but professors expect you to manage your own study schedule without hand-holding. Moving to Dortmund brings a real adjustment period—from getting used to a quieter, more private lifestyle to wrestling with slow, paper-heavy German bureaucracy like the Bürgeramt for your residence permit. While English gets you through your degree, basic German is essential for daily life in the Ruhr region and for finding local jobs. Look into scholarships like the Deutschlandstipendium or DAAD early, even if you don't apply right away. Overall, it's a solid experience, but you need to come prepared to handle things on your own from week one.
Likes (Value for money): Value for money gets an easy 5/5 because tuition at FH Dortmund is completely free. You only pay the mandatory semester fee—currently around €347—and that includes the nationwide Deutschlandsemesterticket. Being able to ride regional trains and public transit anywhere in Germany for that price alone makes it worth every cent. Combine that with solid, hands-on professors and great lab resources, and the educational value you get for a couple hundred euros is unbeatable.
Dislikes (Student Life): Student life gets a 3/5 because FH Dortmund is great for studying, but pretty quiet socially. The libraries, Wi-Fi, and study spots at both Sonnenstraße and campus Emil-Figuer-Straße are solid. But actual social events only really happen during Freshers' Week (Orientierungswoche) at the start of the semester, after which campus completely dies down. A lot of people commute in for lectures and head straight home. Plus, most student clubs and AStA activities are run entirely in German, so finding an English-speaking community or club on campus is tough.
