Opportunities for Growth
Tips: After coming here I learned to be independent, as I have to do everything on my own: earn money, study, cook, and look after my health. I received a scholarship for academic excellence, and I received a total of 2,000 euros. I'm pretty satisfied with my university course and the country. I love my course because it has a very good scope. Renewable energy is growing, and therefore you have a higher chance of getting jobs, especially if you speak German. University life is not like the one we have in India; we just go to the university to attend classes and maybe once in a while to attend any events. It's not as lively as Indian universities. I love Germany because you have the freedom to do whatever you want, and you don't have to pay a big tuition fee to study here, but you can still get a good education. We get a lot of opportunities to grow here; it depends on how well we use it and how SMART we are.
Likes (Part time work): I'm specializing in renewable energies, and I actually got a student assistant job in a company that is closely associated with the university, which is situated in the same city. If you are SMART enough, I think you can get a part-time job in companies like mine in the area because it's particularly famous for its renewable energy. There are also other opportunities for part-time work in the university itself, but it depends on the coursework and depends on how SMART you are. Off-campus part-time jobs are not as hard to find as in other big cities in Germany, but if you know German, it's much easier, as you may get easier jobs; if you don't know German, you mostly get work in warehouses and restaurants.
Dislikes (Student Life): The thing I enjoy the most about my college life is I can choose the subjects that I want to study instead of a fixed coursework; there are many options to choose from. For my course, particularly, there is no batch as such, so you SEE different people in different subjects' classes. You have total freedom to choose whether to attend the class or just to attend the exam. Attendance is not mandatory for the majority of the courses. At the end you just have to get all the credit points to finish your master's. There are many events like summer fest, chit chat with coffee, meeting and speaking with local people, and some traditional parties. But it's completely different from college life in India; we have to always choose to attend different events to meet new people, and I feel like the kind of unity and friendships that we have in Indian college life are not something that we can expect here. There are no such student clubs or communities like what we have in India.

A journey of Growth, Learning and new experiences at Viadrina
Tips: I highly value the international atmosphere at Viadrina, where I got to know many MET students who come from various backgrounds. I am satisfied with my course and with the possibilities the university gives me to grow personally and academically. My advice to new students is to keep an open mind, organize themselves financially, join university activities, and build new contacts without fear. Yes, there are also scholarships. I benefited from the Deutschlandstipendium scholarship.
Likes (Internships): The college faculty is very supportive and helpful when it comes to finding opportunities and internships and the available opportunities are relevant to different fields of study. I especially appreciate that the university encourages students to gain practical experiences alongside their studies.
Dislikes (Part time work): Frankfurt order is a small town with very less population and jobs ( almost no English speaking jobs). So, learning german is a must and students have to be very proactive in job applications and I would suggest being in touch with your professors as they can help students find student jobs there.

My Viadrina experience: Master student
Tips: There's definitely a cultural and academic shift coming here, but it's very manageable if you know the language and are willing to put in the work. I didn't receive any scholarships—I finance my studies mainly through a blocked account and werkstudent jobs. Overall, it was a genuinely enriching experience, especially the challenge of building your life from scratch and the people you meet along the way.
Likes (Safety): The city is quite small in order; I have never faced any safety issues. The community here is close-knit, so familiar situations are rare. If anything, the small-city, low-crime feel of the location was one of the more reassuring aspects when I compared it to bigger ones like Berlin.
Dislikes (Internships): The university career center is quite helpful, but the city has very few English-speaking options, so I had to look in Berlin. I mostly had to search independently. Thankfully, I got a hybrid Werkstudent position, which made the distance manageable. But the train connections are not the best between the cities.
