WSU for smooth transition, good opportunities and cold weather.
Tips: Before coming to WSU, it really helps to know about the housing options because there are plenty and comparing them is important. Most decent places range from $450-$600 per month. The peer-mentor programme here is super helpful and gives you clarity about the university, part-time jobs and settling into Pullman. There exist multiple student clubs which you can join and also an International Student Centre ISC which is a nice hangout place for international students, where you can build community and also gain guidance. The cultural shift is definitely big since you are entering a new country, but WSU's diversity makes the transition much easier, and you never feel out of place for long. There are scholarships, but the most realistic option for many students is trying for TA positions, which help financially and add experience. I am very satisfied with the university, the MS-CS course, and the experience of being in the US, and I would strongly recommend WSU to anyone who enjoys a quiet college town and doesn't mind the cold weather.
Likes (Part time work): On-campus part-time jobs at WSU Pullman are actually pretty easy to find. The university uses Handshake, where you'll see openings in different departments, and even if you don't get one of those immediately, the on-campus dining halls are almost always hiring student workers or custodians. We are allowed to work up to 20 hours per week as per our student visa restrictions and we get sick leave hours, which is nice. The average pay ranges from $15-$20 per hour, depending on the department. If you are a masters student, you usually have just one or two classes a day, so managing part-time work alongside is very doable. If you are an undergraduate, you may have more classes, but there are students who manage part-time work flexibly.
Dislikes (Indian Food): There are only a couple of Indian restaurants nearby, Mela (Bangladesh) and Karma (Indian). While they are nice for occasional outings, they are pretty expensive for students and the taste doesn't always feel worth the price. Most of us prefer cooking at home because it is more affordable and honestly more satisfying. You can find basic Indian groceries at Walmart, and if you need more authentic items, Taj Groceries in Moscow which is just a 15-minute drive and has good selection. Food isn't a big problem but definitely requires some adjustment and planning.

The university is very welcoming and student friendly.
Tips: After settling here in Washington, I would say that the academic curriculum is well-formulated, and it covers pretty much everything essential, and the approach to learning is pretty hands-on as well. You'll learn to recreate a lot of your favourite dishes as well, and don’t hesitate to ask questions in class if you're stuck. It even sets a good impression.

Highly qualified faculty and great curriculum.
Tips: The class sizes are smaller as compared to some of the other universities, but that really helps in ensuring you have adequate one on one attention as well as space to learn. The weather can be a little unpredictable here, and Indian groceries and food are not as common. A Costco card has saved my life and you will have to learn to cook your own meals, or else it can get really expensive.

Pretty great place to learn.
Tips: I was very unsure at the start, and I thought I would make a call after the first semester. I would say I am very happy that I continued. The coursework is rigorous, and it will take a couple of months to ease into the teaching methodologies and figure out how citations and such work. On landing, you should get a bank account open, and the university will help you with that. Also, make sure your I-20 is sorted as well.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Well, the options to actually get some form of citizenship or a green card here are next to impossible, especially in the current scenario. If I did get the option, I would thrive living here, but unfortunately, that is not the case for many who wish to do so.

Thoughtful people and diverse campus.
Tips: I came to study here after my schooling in Mumbai and I was surprised to find out that Pullman is a lot smaller and intimate than I expected. The univeristy is also more peaceful which helps in minimising distractions and allows you to really focus. The faculty is extremely knowledgeable and open minded and office hours has really been an assets for me. Prepare for the winters as they arre brutal here.

Great faculty and vibrant student life.
Tips: Studying here so far has been really intense, but I have also benefited from it. I appreciate how welcoming my peers were at the beginning and the help I got when it came to finding a place to stay before my housing was sorted. There is also a consulting club that I joined, which mainly helps out in case prep for interviews, which you can check out. Overall, I have liked my time here a lot.

Budget friendly and diverse University
Tips: I got GA which sponsors my tuition fee during my course. College is great for people who want to get a degree within budget. Will find many students from different countries. Faculty members are supportive of each and every student. Will easily find on-campus jobs to support daily expenses.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Faculty members are supportive to all and each student. They understand the difficult situations of every student and make arrangements accordingly. They are available during most of the business hours to help academically. They will help students to shape their career.
Dislikes (Public transportation): There is selective public transport available for nearby places. It is enough to get groceries and explore nearby places. But to explore nearby places, you have to get cabs or buses which are expensive for a student. You can easily track bus routes on Internet.

Best university and also tough when it comes to assignments
Tips: Students will learn new things, and easy to get part-time jobs. The faculty here are very friendly but assignments are very tough. You need to focus more on academics and the best thing here is that there are less Indians in the class and more Americans. This way you can interact with them and learn their accent easily.
Likes (Part time work): Our college has many part-time job options. Every student who studies in the college gets a part-time job because there are very less Indians who join this university. And most Americans won't do part-time work in our university. Also, our university provides graduate assistantship opportunities.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): My college does not get many companies. It totally depends on our hard work to be placed in the companies. Also, the area where I stay doesn't have many job opportunities, sometimes we get job opportunities only by doing research about the type of programs and the companies, with our hard work and after doing internships.
