Good university. Fees is affordable.
Tips: The university gives scholarships. I am paying around $6500/semester. It is a very good university because of its fees and quality of study. The cost of accommodation is less in New Jersey as compared to New York City. There is a Path Train transportation from Jersey City to university street.
Dislikes (Part time work): The university offers only TA/RA jobs that to very limited. The students will get emails from the university if there are any openings for part-time jobs and internships. Getting off campus jobs is becoming hard because of the increasing number of students from different countries and states.

Budget friendly college but high living cost.
Tips: There was a cultural shift and it's unavoidable. Our college gives scholarships for everyone to make the fee even for everyone. It will be given to everyone who got the acceptance letter, with the i20. Because the college is in New York and it's a private university my classes feel like attending an Ameerpet center.
Likes (Safety): Till now, my experience here has been good. Nothing to be scared of in New Jersey and New York just need to stay away from a few mad people on the roads and do not stand at some place alone for more than 2 minutes. From the university side, there are no facilities, it is just like any other Indian university.
Dislikes (Part time work): It's hard to find on-campus jobs in our university but we can try off-campus. In that also, we have a lot of competition for jobs based off campus as it is in New York, there are a lot of colleges here with many Indians and students from other states (online education) coming to New Jersey to work here so basically it all depends on luck, hard-work and connections. If we get a job in New York the pay is between 10-15 dollars per hour.

Yeshiva University is one of the best college in terms of academics.
Tips: If you are coming from India to study here in this college (or any other) you have to be mentally prepared. When I thought I would get comfortable here easily, I was wrong. There are many students like you and you have to be competitive to climb the ladder. In the starting days, you might even have to sleep hungry. I didn't avail of any scholarship. I am very happy that I got a chance to study here. This is the best option for your B.A. In Mathematics.
Likes (Public transportation): Much of the public transportation is government run so the buses are clean, affordable and generally cost 25$ for one time. You can also get their membership card and you can put some money in it and it will automatically get deducted once you board your bus. Metro has different prices though.
Dislikes (Indian Food): All the restaurants that offer Indian food are either expensive or very far away from where I am living. So I have to eat whatever is given to us in the college canteen or what is available near my residence. I generally prefer cooking myself because that way I can control my expenses.

College is good for international students
Tips: Before joining Yeshiva University students must be very aware of its academic standards. University puts grades at the highest standards. The college is situated at the very heart of the city so the person who cannot cope up with the fast pace of the city, it would be hard for them.
Dislikes (Quality of faculty): The cultural shift was great when I came to Yeshiva University. I am used to everything back home so the services and facilities I get do not satisfy me as much as it was back home. the university is safe in itself but I am sceptical about the city and public transportation is not good.

Our campus hosts weekly events like cultural nights, career fairs, and volunteering drives.
Tips: Transitioning here was both exciting and challenging. I experienced a cultural shift in classroom dynamics, social interactions, and communication style, but the supportive campus environment helped me adapt smoothly. I did receive a merit-based scholarship offered during admission, awarded for academic excellence and extracurricular involvement. The scholarship covered a portion of my tuition, which eased financial pressure. I'm highly satisfied with my university, course, and the country. The academic resources, cultural diversity, and growth opportunities have exceeded my expectations. This experience has broadened my perspective and strengthened my confidence, both academically and personally, making it truly rewarding.
Likes (Student Life): At college, I balance academics, social life, and personal growth. My day includes attending lectures, group studies, club meetings, and campus events. I enjoy the independence, diverse interactions, and supportive environment the most. Our campus hosts weekly events like cultural nights, career fairs, and volunteering drives, which I often join. I'm part of tech and international student clubs that offer workshops, social events, and peer support. These communities have helped me build confidence and friendships. College life is not just about academics, it's about learning, exploring new interests, and preparing for a fulfilling future beyond the classroom.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): While I value the academic and cultural experiences I've gained in the USA, I do not intend to stay back after completing my master's. My long-term career goals are rooted in India, where I see greater alignment with my aspirations and the opportunity to contribute meaningfully. I have a clear vision for my professional future in India, and returning home will allow me to apply the skills and knowledge I've acquired abroad. There is no chance I will seek permanent settlement in the USA, as my focus remains firmly on building my career and making a difference in my home country.
