Founded in 1971, EBS University of Business and Law, also known as EBS Universität für Wirtschaft und Recht or simply EBS University is a state-recognized private research univeristy that specializes in Business and Law based education. Based in Wiesbaden and Oestrich-Winkel, the EBS University of Business & Law houses the oldest private business school in Germany. EBS University History
Founded in 1971, the EBS University of Business and Law, stands as the university with the oldest private business school in Germany, established by Professor Klaus Evard with the aim: "to offer international education in close cooperation with corporate partners". The institute began alongside a group of business schools in Europe, called the European Business Schools, and soon after its inauguration moved to its campus based in Schloss Reichartshausen, with the second university campus: EBS Burg established in 1985, in Oestrich-Winkel. EBS received the higher education status in 1989 and was recognized as a scientific univeristy in 1992, by the Hessian Minister of Science. EBS seperated from the group of European Business Schools during the 1980s, and has operated independently since.
EBS Germany attained the right to confer doctoral degrees in 1993, and post doctoral qualifications in 1998.
2016 saw the establishment of the EBS Law School in Wiesbaden. Today, the EBS University of Business and Law is home to more than 2,200 students, from across the globe and is among a select number of universities in Germany, with a business school accredited by the AACSB.
