- Bachelor's degree from Goethe University with Romance studies as a major or minor subject or a comparable degree from a German or foreign university with a standard period of study of at least six semesters.

- Expert reports, lecturer's examinations or certificates that were acquired during stays abroad, in university language courses, in VHS courses or in self-study, which document the required language skills, whereby level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) must be explicitly mentioned.
The admissions committee decides on the recognition of further language certificates (e.g. TOEFL, IELTS, Cambridge Certificate, etc.). - Knowledge of Portuguese at level B1 (GeR) can be proven by:
- a bachelor's degree in Romance studies from the Goethe University in which the corresponding language skills in Portuguese have been achieved; or
- a Bachelor's degree in Romance Studies with a focus on Lusitan Studies from another German or foreign university; or

- a placement test by the Institute for Romance Languages ??and Literatures at Goethe University - Applicants with a foreign university entrance qualification and a foreign undergraduate degree must also provide evidence of German language skills at level B1 (GER). The following evidence is possible:
- a bachelor's degree in a German studies course in Germany and abroad; or
- a university entrance qualification for a German-speaking country; or
- a certificate of successfully completed language courses from German and / or foreign universities, the target level of which corresponds to the requirements specified above, whereby level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) must be explicitly mentioned; or
