MSc in Chemical and Bioprocess Engineering - Batch of 2026
4.4
Excellent Research Facilities and Modern Campus
Tips: The university is really good. It is a technical university, so you need to have deep knowledge of the field of study and also a future interest in developing new skills and collaboration. Also, there is an opportunity to get a scholarship if you perform well academically, and my course, I would say, is one of the toughest courses in the M.Sc. All of them are English courses, and I also think German is really good. Specifically, the city of Hamburg is really good, and in Germany, people are really friendly. I would say it's multi cultural City, people from different nationality lives here, and yes, it's really good.

Tips: Since it's a technical university, you must have thorough knowledge of your field and interest in order to study topics in depth. Language is a crucial thing; if you have a good command of language, it's an edge over others. And there are also good scholarship opportunities if you do well academically. The university is really a good one. My course, I would personally consider as a difficult one, however, they have made changes in the structure of the course lately, and now it's comparatively easier. And Germany is also a good country, specially people here in Hamburg are very friendly, and it's an international city.

Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering and Management - Batch of 2027
4.0
Great learning opportunities and improves your skills and knowledge and personality
Tips: Before coming to TUHH, be ready for a significant cultural shift and a very high level of academic independence. Succeeding here requires serious self-discipline, patience, and mental resilience—especially when prepped for tough engineering Klausuren (exams) where nobody holds your hand. How easily you transition really comes down to your personal background and adaptability. On the financial side, make sure you research and apply for scholarships like the Deutschlandstipendium or DAAD funding before deadlines pass; I didn't apply for any allowance or grant myself, so I paid out of pocket. Overall, despite the intense workload in Harburg, I'm genuinely satisfied with my course and the quality of education at TUHH.

TUHH changed my life for the better
Tips: Look the number one piece of advice for anyone heading to TUHH is simple: grind as much German as you possibly can before landing in Hamburg. Everyone says it, but you don't realize how true it is until you’re trying to handle German bureaucracy, read a rental contract, or just buy groceries without using Google Translate every five seconds. Moving to a foreign country means a major culture shock anyway, but the language is what makes or breaks how smooth that transition actually feels. As for the university itself, I honestly have zero complaints. The courses at TUHH are tough but completely worth it and living in a massive port city like Hamburg is an incredible experience. If you’re willing to put in the effort to integrate and learn the local language, you're going to love it here—the setup, the professors, and the overall lifestyle are top-tier.

MS in Data Science - Batch of 2027
3.7
Good University of research
Tips: The main cultural shift is the language, and without the language, landing a werkstudent or part-time job has become difficult for the past few years. I am satisfied with the course in terms of subjects we have, but the ratio of students to professors is lower.
Likes (Public transportation): The public transport is well connected with S-bahns, buses, RE, and U-bahns. The university provides a Deutschland semester ticket (the cost of this ticket is covered in the semester contribution), which covers the public transport cost except ICE trains. With the semester ticket, public transport throughout Germany is free of cost (except for ICE trains and long-distance trains).
Dislikes (Quality of faculty): The professors are approachable easily, but since M.Sc. Data Science is a new course, there are frequent changes happening in the curriculum and also restructuring of faculty. The teaching faculty is not that diverse, but professors do not discriminate against students based on nationality.
