Good Academic Experience with Opportunities for Growth
Tips: The biggest adjustment at Uni Kassel is taking full charge of your own schedule—professors won't track your progress, so staying on top of self-study and exam prep is entirely on you. Dealing with the German language barrier and getting used to the academic style feels overwhelming during the first semester, but once you build a daily routine, things click into place. Overall, I’m really glad I chose Kassel; the course quality, university setup, and living in Germany have been a great experience.
Likes (Part time work): I rated part-time work 4/5, as there are good opportunities in Kassel. On-campus jobs include research/teaching assistant roles, while off-campus options include DHL, Amazon, restaurants, and retail. Work is manageable with studies, with pay generally around €13-16/hour.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): I rated post-study jobs 2/5 because international graduates face challenges with German-language requirements and limited English-speaking roles. Engineering jobs typically offer €45,000–€60,000/year, with opportunities in telecom, IT, and R&D. But due to the recession, the job opportunities are very few.
