If someone would have asked you to pursue a Management Degree from China a couple of decades ago, you might have frowned over the suggestion and forgotten about it all together…but today…the suggestion is not that farfetched. In fact, according to the recent trends, China is one of the favoured destinations for International MBA aspirants. One of the undisputed leaders in Asia, the country boasts of 40 elite business schools and many of them also feature in the Top Business Schools in Asia and have found space in the World Top 100 as well. But we always maintain ranking is not reason enough to look at a particular business school. However, China as a Business School Destination warrants a look into…here are a few reasons why pursuing an MBA from China is a good choice.

World’s Fastest Growing Economy

As an Indian, the impact of the Chinese economy is not something a business aspirant would be unaware of. The rising dragon not features among the largest countries in term of GDP in the world but has also created a righteous sensation as being one of the fastest growing economies of the world. The ripple effect of the same is felt strongly in the urban cities of the country, attracting big businesses. As such, the environment in the country is most conducive for any MBA student. Enough opportunities, a greater access to the biggest names and being in the midst of all the happenings are sure to add a great impetus to your management education.

Quality Education System and Facilities

Chinese only recently opened to the world and in a manner that took the world with storm. A rapidly expanding economy necessitated the need for management graduates and the spurt in truly global management schools in the country. Opening up to the international students, the country’s top business schools quickly developed unique offerings that add to the many advantages of being an MBA student from China. Its top B schools – be in state-run universities like School of Management at Tsinghua University, the Guanghua School of Management at Peking University (PKU) and the School of Management at Fudan University or the private players like CEIBS and Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business all offer quality and quantity. Quantity in terms of plenty of local opportunities to gain practical experience from.

Relaxed Eligibility and Entry Norms

The thing about being a young entrant is that you are rather competitive. And one of the competitive advantages China enjoys is rather relaxed eligibility requirements. The b-schools in the country are not seeking loads and loads of work experience. Many schools, in fact, would admit you right after college as well. This only ideates from their philosophy of nurturing talent rather than fine-tuning it. Believing in starting early, these schools are easier to access. Also, the Visa norms are relatively simpler. In fact, the moment you get an offer of acceptance, you more or less get a Visa to enter the country. These add to the many advantages of looking at China.

Learning a New Language

Mandarin as a language has its attractions beyond being spoken by the largest population in the world. The expansion of the Chinese business houses across the globe has made the Mandarin Language a big asset for companies. And if you are looking at a career as a Management Graduate, the language would certainly help you, both for getting jobs in China or with a global giant with Chinese links. So, even though the business courses would be in English, you can always do a semester in the language, have enough opportunity to practice and be prepared for the future. The fact that Mandarin is also widely spoken in South East Asian countries adds to the many job markets.
