The Rhodes Scholarship, as we all know, is a life-changing scholarship for anyone who wishes to study postgraduate courses at the University of Oxford. To get this, students have to apply a year in advance. For the October 2027 intake, applications for the Rhodes Scholarship 2027 opened on June 01, 2026. Applicants have exactly 53 days to submit an application.

Rhodes Scholarship 2027 Eligibility Criteria for Indian Students
Not all students from India may be eligible to participate/apply for the Rhodes Scholarships 2027. To know if you’re eligible or not for the scholarship, read and check out the points of eligibility criteria for Indian students below.

You must be an Indian citizen

You must have and present a valid Indian passport or an equivalent proof of your Indian citizenship. PIO or OCI cards will not be considered as proof of Indian citizenship.

Special Note:- Applications made by the refugees/asylum seekers in India will be considered.

You must have completed at least 4 years of formal education out of the last 10 years at an Indian institution located within the country. This also includes having qualified from:

An Indian school (for class 10th, 12th or equivalent)

An Indian university or college with an undergraduate degree or program. If your undergraduate is not yet completed then, you must be at least in the final year of qualifying for it.

As the Rhodes Scholarship is awarded for PG programs, the age of the applicant must be between 18 and 23 years on 1st October 2026. This implies that the birth date of the applicants must fall between 01 October 2002 and 2 October 2008.

Applicants who started their first undergraduate degree later than usual must be aged under 27 years on 01 October 2026. Additionally they must have cleared the requirements for their first UG degree by 01 October 2025.

Your undergraduate degree must be completed by July 2027.

How do You Fill Out the Application for Rhodes Scholarship 2027?
The applications for Rhodes Scholarship 2027 must be filled out and submitted online. There is no fee for submitting this form. Also, students have to fill and submit an application for studying at the Oxford University later after getting the results of their Rhodes application. If selected, they’ll be guided in filling out the form for course selection by the Rhodes House.
