As part of its ongoing efforts to prevent gender-based violence, RMIT University has released the Addressing Gender-Based Violence Annual Report 2024. The report talks about the improvements in reporting transparency, increased engagement in prevention initiatives, and key progress areas.

To align with the proposed National Higher Education Code to Prevent and Respond to Gender-Based Violence, RMIT University has expanded its prevention and response initiatives over the previous year. The university witnessed an increased participation of students, with more than 100 Executive Leadership Team members completing Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment (SASH) training and over 3,000 students engaged in prevention activities.

"RMIT has no tolerance for gender-based violence. We are committed to creating a safe, respectful and inclusive environment for everyone and will continue to support those impacted by gender-based violence including sexual harassment, sexual harm and sexual assault," reads the university statement.

RMIT Announces Establishment Of Saskia Loer Hansen Memorial Scholarship

The Saskia Loer Hansen Scholarship has been established in memory of the university's colleague Saskia, who had a great passion for international connections. The newly set-up scholarship will help students of RMIT, who are facing financial challenges, to take part in a global experience.

RMIT hosted a Memorial last week, and to recognize Saskia's contribution, Chancellor Peggy O’Neal AO awarded her a posthumous Honorary Doctorate of Business.

“We hold the recipients of Honorary Doctorates up as examples for our students, our graduates and the wider University community. We honour their life and their service because of the way they embody the positive impact we aspire to create. I can think of no better candidate than Saskia Loer Hansen," said O’Neal.
