University Of Strathclyde: Applications Open For BSc (Hons) Chemistry

The University of Strathclyde in the UK has invited applications for its BSc (Hons) Chemistry course. The course will start in September 2025. The duration of the course is four years and the annual fee for international students in 2025/26 is £27,800.­­

“On the BSc Chemistry degree, students will study both pure and applied chemistry. Pure chemistry is about unravelling the mysteries of molecular structure and reactivity. Applied chemistry uses chemical knowledge to respond to the challenges created by society,” says the university's official statement.

Those joining an undergraduate degree at the University of Strathclyde in the Faculty of Science department during the 2025/2026 academic year have scholarship options worth between £5,000 - £7,000.

BSc (Hons) Chemistry At University Of Strathclyde: More Details

There will be advanced classes in cage and cluster modules, photochemistry, molecular catalysis, polymer chemistry, and environmental chemistry.

It is for students who want a complete coverage of Chemistry subject. They will be able to switch between other BSc courses within the first three years. The students will be able to switch to courses related to chemistry including BSc (Honours) Forensic and Analytical Chemistry, BSc (Honours) Chemistry with Data Science, and BSc (Honours) Chemistry with Drug Discovery.

“Students will take foundation classes in chemistry, mathematics, and physics or biology at introductory or advanced level. Classes in forensic science, drug discovery and chemical engineering are available depending on their degree choice. Practical chemistry laboratory sessions help them to master basic preparative and analytical skills. In later years, classes will include fundamental inorganic, organic, biological and physical chemistry. In Year 4, students will specialise in the areas and applications that interest them most and undertake a research project and literature review,” added the university statement.

In their final year, the students will get the opportunity to complete a group research project with full-time researchers in one of the specialist research laboratories on real chemistry challenges.

Eligibility Criteria For BSc (Hons) Chemistry

Following are the eligibility criteria for BSc (Hons) Chemistry:

  • The students must have completed class XII with a minimum score of 70 to 75%.
  • At level X also, they must have scored a minimum of 70 to 75%.
  • Marks should be strong in related areas such as Chemistry.
  • A minimum IELTS(Academic) overall score of 6.0 is required with no individual band less than 5.5.
