Study in Australia: University of Wollongong is all set to open its campus in India at GIFT City in November 2024. The university is currently accepting applications for this campus from Indian aspirants.

The university said that they have already received over 800 applications for financial and computing technology against a student intake capacity of 50 each, as reported by Ahmedabad Mirror.

Kath McCollim, executive director of Global Student Recruitment at the University of Wollongong, said, "The fee at the Indian campus has been capped at Australian Dollar (AUD) 9,300 for a graduate certificate course in computing and AUD27,900 for a Master’s degree in Computing (Data Analytics). For the Graduate Certificate course in Financial Technology, the fee is capped at AUD9,300, AUD27,900 for Master of Financial Technology and AUD37,200 for Master of Financial Technology Extension."

University of Wollongong India to have trimester system

The university will have a trimester system instead of the popular semester model. The trimester system has three months for the one-term model.

“We are going to consider their graduation score for admission in the master’s courses. While exams like IELTS are not mandatory, English education is one of the eligibility criteria to pursue courses with us,” said Kath McCollim.

"The USP of the varsity is also that it is inclusive in its approach and allows students to take admission in the two master’s programmes even when they do not have a graduate degree in the same subject," said Kiran Trivedi, a faculty for the course in Computing.

“The USP of GIFT City campus is to offer an opportunity to Indian students who may not be able to make it to Australia to pursue courses. This will help them beat challenges like accessibility and affordability to study the same courses in Australia, Dubai and Malaysia campus,” she said.

The first cohort of UOW India will get an Inaugural Scholarship discount.

"This exclusive scholarship will provide a 50% reduction in tuition fees for all Master’s degree programs and a 25% discount for Graduate Certificate programs for the first trimester of their chosen course at UOW India. This discount will support students by providing accessible, high-quality education as they embark on their academic journeys," reads the official website.
