Wayne State University Offers Graduate Assistantships For MA & PhD Students
Assistantships' application deadline depends on the program and department. If the application deadline is not readily available on the program website, the application process and inquiry for the fall semester assistantships at Wayne State University should start one year in advance, said the university.
Graduate assistantship opportunities at Wayne State University are available for students enrolled in doctoral or master's programs. The assistantship appointments may be given for one, two, or three semesters. To get the assistantship, the student must be enrolled for a minimum of six graduate credits each per winter and fall semester appointments.
It offers a tuition and salary scholarship and the assistants have the option to accept the subsidized dental, vision, and medical insurance.
"The hiring unit determines the salary but must offer at least the discipline category minimum listed in the Compensation Schedule. The tuition scholarship provides payment for up to 10 graduate credits for each of the fall and winter semesters and up to two graduate credits for the spring/summer semester appointment. The scholarships will pay for only graduate credits listed on a student's Plan of Work," said the official statement of the university.
Wayne State University's Graduate Assistantships Details
Not all the departments at the university offer the Graduate Assistantships. The Graduate School does not offer all the available positions as many are given by the departments and the department's website will list the positions available for recruitment.
"If you cannot obtain an application form from the department, contact the program concerning your interest in an assistantship," added the university's statement.
The available positions include Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs), Graduate Research Assistants (GRAs), and Graduate Student Assistants (GSAs).
