The professors here are very humble, supportive, and caring, we can easily crack our competitive exams by following their guidance. Teaching here is much better than at other institutions. The university is average and lacks to provide opportunities to students.
Tips: Before applying to a university, you should do your research and learn from a reputable source. Mari State University is in Yoshkar-Ola, a small town where things are not fancy. There are also language barriers, so make sure to learn some Russian if you choose to apply. Extreme temperatures are an additional negative. If you are a medical student, a part-time job is out of the question. There are no high-paying jobs either. People usually get menial labour jobs, like working in a chicken factory or something similar. Some of my friends have gotten injured while working at a lumber mill.

Typical Indo-Russian university with not much opportunities.
Tips: We will get two tries to pass an exam. The weather is fine and isn't cold much these days, so it's not a big deal however, it can be too harsh during winter. Doing an internship as an Indian student in Russia is impossible due to the language barrier. Even if we learn the language, I think it will still be very difficult, as Russians don't trust students from other countries. They think we're not up to the task and think we're backward. There's always a little racism felt from some corners. Russia is a much safer country than India especially if you are a woman. Girls can roam around at night without being hassled, even alone. I love Russia because of this. The police are always out on the streets to provide protection. All you need for safety is a passport. The university is very strict, so I do not recommend you apply unless you're ready for that.

Good friendly nature and heart whelming experiences.
Tips: Russia is way safer than the US, UK, Europe, Canada, and Australia. More than 4,00,000 international students were enrolled in Russian universities as of January 2023. More students are enrolling each year. International students often hang out together, so you'll probably enjoy great company most of the time. There are many festivals and activities held on campus. We all celebrate Indian festivals as well. There are a number of people who are very keen to learn about our culture and experiences. The faculty os outstanding and very helpful. They provide us with course packs and materials. Overall, I am quite satisfied with the country, course and the university.

"Essential Insights for Prospective Medical Students"
Tips: Student life at our medical university is engaging and dynamic. From lively lectures to hands-on lab sessions, there's always something new to learn. The campus is vibrant, with various clubs and organizations to suit every interest. Despite the academic rigour, I've made lifelong friends and memories here. The faculty were knowledgeable and supportive, and the hands-on training was invaluable. The curriculum was rigorous but rewarding, and I feel well-prepared for my future career in medicine. Hands-on experience, patient interaction, supportive community, clubs and organizations. Our medical university gave me a great experience. Overall, I am quite satisfied with the college and the country.

Adequate but not exceptional. A decent experience and balanced perspective.
Tips: Students should be sure to research the university ranking, approval by the Medical Council of India (MCI), and alignment of curriculum with international standards. Also, take into account the teaching methods used at the institution. Moreover, check the clinical exposure provided by the university, as it has been note that abroad colleges often offer less clinical exposure than Indian colleges. Be sure to do your due diligence on the college infrastructure, labs, and available technology. It's important to factor in the cost of living in the area, on top of the cost of tuition. Living cost vary by location, so research the area carefully. You should consult with alumni of the university to get an idea of the experience of attending the institution. You may want to research what career outcome alumni have had. Last but not least, if you're an engineering student, be sure to explore the available scholarship opportunities at the university, as government-recognised universities may offer scholarships.
Likes (Safety): There is a face ID at the school, so you cannot enter without it. Outside of school, it is not safe for foreign students. It's especially bad at night. My friends have gotten injured by the local residents who were having fun at our expenses. Even if we complain we won't get any support from the school unless it's a life-threatening situation, and the hospital has to tell the police. There are people around at night, but I still wouldn't walk around by myself. Girls in the school have good security, like strict policies on domestic violence, but the Indian girls are using it to their advantage.
Dislikes (Part time work): There are no part-time jobs for Indians on campus here. Off-campus, there is a chicken farm outside of the city where you can work if you have the proper documents. There are some Telegram jobs, like message delivers and transporting items, for which I think it's okay to earn a little extra as a delivery person or for any other miscellaneous job. But this pay is very low. If you work at the chicken factor from 6 to 6, you earn around 2600 rules. You get paid by the hour.
