Eligibility

  • The applicant must:
    • be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, a person with the protected/refugee status or an international student;
    • be enrolled as a full-time student in the third year of study in the Honours Bachelor in Conflict Studies and Human Rights program at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Ottawa;
    • demonstrate a commitment to advancing universal human rights or conflict resolution, preferably through direct participation in human rights or conflict resolution efforts;
    • demonstrate a capacity for leadership; and
    • demonstrate good academic performance.

Application Process for this scholarship

  • Applications must be made through Online Scholarships and Bursaries, which can be accessed through the uoZone portal, and should include:
    • A statement of interest (max. 1,000 words) that shows how the applicant demonstrates: 
      • commitment to advancing universal human rights or conflict resolution, preferably through direct participation in human rights or conflict resolution efforts; 
      • the intention to continue advancing these goals in the applicant’s future activities; and, 
      • capacity for leadership
    • The names of two (2) references who can be contacted by the selection committee.
  • In the event of multiple applicants meeting the basic requirements, the selection committee will choose the recipient based on the award policies and standard criteria used by the Faculty of Social Sciences at the time of selection
