The International Excellence Scholarship (India) has been established to attract high-performing students to study at the University of Newcastle. This will be a merit-based scholarship that recognises Indian students with a strong academic background and incentivises them to continue striving to be the best that they can be.

Eligibility

Applicants with following qualifications are eligible to apply:

  • Tier 1- Undergraduate Programs (Minimum equivalent ATAR)93 and Postgraduate Coursework Programs (Minimum UON-determined GPA)6.5/7.0
  • Tier 2- Undergraduate Programs (Minimum equivalent ATAR)75 and Postgraduate Coursework Programs (Minimum UON-determined GPA)5.25/7.0
  • Toer 3- Undergraduate Programs (Minimum equivalent ATAR)65 and Postgraduate Coursework Programs (Minimum UON-determined GPA)4.5/7.0
  • Hold an Indian passport.
  • Must meet english language requirements
  • Be studying in a CRICOS-registered undergraduate or postgraduate coursework University of Newcastle degree program
  • . Be enrolled on-campus at any University of Newcastle Australian campus.
  • Be commencing in an eligible program
  • Be able to meet all of the financial obligations of a full-fee paying international student, including the full tuition fee and other expenses, for the purpose of obtaining a student visa for study in Australia and in the event that continued eligibility for the scholarship is not maintained.

Additional Information

  • The scholar must remain compliant with the conditions of their student visa (if applicable), including but not limited to the requirement to maintain a full time study load unless approval is obtained for a reduced load
  • The scholar must maintain international student status for the duration of their enrolment in the University. The scholarship will be terminated if a student ceases to be an international student.
  • Continuation of the scholarship and benefits is subject to the scholar maintaining satisfactory academic progress, that is, a cumulative GPA of 4.5/7.0 or a success rate of 66% throughout their studies
