Scholarship Overview

• In honor of the exceptional contributions international scholars make to Duke University, the Karsh International Scholarship was founded in 2010 thanks to a generous donation from Martha L. and Bruce A. Karsh.
• Karsh International Scholars comprise an intellectually and civically engaged cohort of international students who promote interdisciplinary inquiry, academic research, and scholarship in the service of society.
• International applicants must have demonstrated financial need to be eligible for this scholarship.

Eligibility

• Strong academic preparation and documented need for financial aid makes a good candidate for this scholarship.
• To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must apply to the Duke University. For the applicants to fulfil the admission requirements - they must have passed high school.
• English Language Proficiency Requirements:
  • Duolingo (Minimum score expected is 130)
  • IELTS - (Minimum band score expected is 7)
  • PTE Academic (Minimum score expected is 70)
  • TOEFL - 100 on the internet-based TOEFL

• Academic Transcripts
• Require three letters of recommendation for each applicant: one from your school counselor and two from teachers who have taught you in major academic courses (English, mathematics, social studies, sciences, world languages), preferably within the last two years of secondary school.
• The application includes space for up to ten extracurricular activities.
•  Both the Common Application and the Coalition Application include a one-page personal essay as well as short essay questions specific to Duke.
• Proof of English Language Proficiency
• Copy of passport
