Scholarship Overview

Onshore Excellence Scholarship is offered by the The University of Newcastle to international students. Onshore Excellence Scholarship is available for students from any country who want to study Bachelors Degree and Masters Degree in the Australia at the The University of Newcastle. Every year, the university selects 100 candidates from all the received applications and offers them scholarships based on their academic profiles. The maximum scholarship that a student can receive is AUD 10000 at The University of Newcastle. The fee needs to be paid in full, the scholarship amount will be given to students once they start their study program. To be eligible for the award, applicants must have completed their Bachelor degree and passed the 12th grade.

  • The scholarship is valued as up to AU$40,000 depending on the length of the study
  • The scholarship value per year of full-time study is AU$10,000
  • The scholarship provides a tuition fee waiver and does not cover the costs of visas, Overseas Student Health Cover, travel, accommodation, living expenses, SSAF, books and study materials or any other expenses associated with studying at the University

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for this scholarship students must meet the following criteria:

  • Be an Onshore student currently located in Australia
  • Be commencing study in an eligible undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree program at the University (excluding ELICOS, Enabling, Non-Award, Higher Degrees by Research programs and programs delivered at offshore campuses)
  • Be an International full-fee paying student
  • Be commencing in an eligible program at an Australian or Online campus as indicated in your Letter of Offer
  • Not be the beneficiary of a separate University scholarship unless prior approval for special dispensation has been obtained from the university
  • Meet all of the financial obligations of a full-fee paying international student, including the full tuition fee and other expenses for the purpose of obtaining your student visa, and in the event that eligibility for the scholarship is not maintained

  • An offshore recent graduate of the University of Newcastle who has completed all program(s) of study listed in a prior letter of offer may also meet eligibility requirements
  • Scholarships are automatically applied for upon application to the University (where eligibility criteria is met) and students will receive notification of the value of their scholarship with their offer
  • Internal transfer students who are studying at an Australian or Online campus and were not previously awarded the scholarship will not be eligible
