Scholarship Overview

South Asia Excellence Scholarship is offered by the The University of Newcastle to international students. South Asia Excellence Scholarship is available for students from any country who want to study Bachelors Degree and Masters Degree in the Australia at the The University of Newcastle. Every year, the university selects a certain number of candidates from all the received applications and offers them scholarships based on their academic profiles. The maximum scholarship that a student can receive is AUD 10000 at The University of Newcastle. The fee needs to be paid in full, the scholarship amount will be given to students once they start their study program. To be eligible for the award, applicants must have completed their Bachelor degree and passed the 12th grade.

  • The scholarship provides a tuition fee waiver and does not cover the costs of visas, Overseas Student Health Cover, travel, accommodation, living expenses, SSAF, books and study materials or any other expenses associated with studying at the University

Eligibility

  • The successful scholar must:
    • Hold a passport from one of the countries listed under definition of “South Asia”
    • Be commencing study in an eligible undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree program at the University (excluding ELICOS, Enabling, Non-Award, Higher Degrees by Research programs and programs delivered at offshore campuses)
    • Be an international full-fee paying student
    • Be commencing in an eligible program at an Australian or Online campus as indicated in your Letter of Offer
    • Not be the beneficiary of a separate University scholarship unless prior approval for special dispensation has been obtained from the university
    • Be able to meet all of the financial obligations of a full-fee paying international student, including the full tuition fee and other expenses

Additional Information

  • Scholarships will be automatically awarded to students who have received an offer to study in an eligible, non-quota program and who will commence studying with the University of Newcastle
  • Scholarship offers will be made on the basis of academic merit. All academic merit determinations are determined according to the University’s procedures for determining ATAR and GPA
  • Students are not eligible to receive this scholarship, even if they meet the criteria outlined if they have not received an offer of the scholarship or are internal transfer students who are studying at an Australian or online campus and were not previously awarded the scholarship
