INSEAD Singapore was founded as a Singaporean private institution in Ayer Rajah Avenue and North Buona Visa Road in the Knowledge Hub district of Singapore, just 15 minutes from the financial district and 30 minutes from Changi airport.

In the year 1999 INSEAD opened a campus in Asia and became the first business school to have two full-fledged campuses with permanent faculty, one in Asia and one in Europe. Then, in the year 2000, the founder of modern Singapore, Lee Kuan Yew, participated in the inauguration of the INSEAD Singapore campus.
