Master of Science in Integrated Circuit Design - Batch of 2026

It's similar to doing an endurance sport with really good friends.
Tips: For the Master of Science in Integrated Circuit Design, you have a chance to apply for the DAAD scholarship every semester. There is an additional academic scholarship for the first semester and a scholarship for women. This course is not eligible for the MOE tuition waiver.
Likes (Internships): The university hosts a career fair and company tours where you can interact with different teams. During the visits, you interact with Alumni from the university who share opportunities and advice. There are a lot of semiconductor companies in Singapore that provide opportunities for internships and Master thesis.
Dislikes (Part time work): There are part-time jobs on campus, but for the specific course I studied, taking on part-time work was not possible. Undergraduates are generally preferred for part-time work on campus. Master's students can work with a professor (especially students enrolled in the Master by Research programme).

Tips: It's a pretty chill place with a lot of Indians and Indian culture; the locals are kind and helpful. I have not taken any scholarship; you can take a 3-year bond and get 50% of tuition fees waived, but you will need to work in SG for 3 years (a job is getting hard to get). Overall it is a good college; overall I am satisfied with my college, Nanyang Technological University; course, computer engineering; and country, Singapore.
Likes (Safety): Singapore in general is very safe; people are nice; laws and enforcement are strict; it's a safe and well-regulated place to stay and learn. can go out late at night also; it is very safe, theft is very rare, and you can leave your door unlocked and go; nothing happens, and police are also very efficient.
Dislikes (Part time work): Not really explored, Singapore and the campus are relatively cheap compared to other countries; get ample cheap food on campus. Campus accommodation is also cheap; off campus all of this gets very expensive, though. The academic load is not much, pretty chill; the profs are also chill.

Transitioning smoothly to NTU Singapore
Tips: If you're looking at NTU as an international student, the first thing you should know is that settling in here is surprisingly chill. I'm a local Singaporean, but watching my foreign classmates, the whole onboarding process is super streamlined. NTU pretty much guarantees on-campus Hall accommodation for your first two years, which is a massive lifesaver because you don't have to stress about finding a place to rent in Singapore right away. You rarely see international students struggling to fit in because the campus is basically its own self-contained city out in Jurong West, and everyone hangs out at the hall canteens anyway.
Financially, you need to be realistic about the costs. Getting a full-ride local scholarship as a foreigner is insanely competitive, so don't bank on that completely. However, most international students sign up for the MOE Tuition Grant to cut down their fees, and there are solid student loan schemes available through banks like OCBC or DBS that cover your living expenses and tuition. It definitely takes the financial pressure off so you can actually enjoy uni life. Just be prepared for the massive campus size and the humidity, but otherwise, the international community here is huge and you'll find your footing almost immediately.

Tips: I did not choose the scholarship as I did not want to serve a bond at the time. The transition was quite easy since the local people are very nice, food options are plentiful and everything in general is quite streamlined making it a fantastic country to live in. There were plenty of Indians in my batch which further helped me to adapt faster and helped me find a home away from home.
Likes (Indian Food): Almost every major hostel has a food court, which would consist of multiple different cuisines at subsidised rates. On average a meal used to cost me 6-10 dollars on campus with plenty of Indian, Western, Korean and local stalls spread across campus.
Dislikes (Part time work): A lot of career fairs and events are organised by NTU where prospective employers look for promising candidates for both part time and full time jobs. In addition, a lot of opportunities exist via job search platforms like LinkedIn, JobStreet and Indeed. I myself did internships which I was able to find through LinkedIn.

Great for smart people and hard workers.
Tips: It is not easy to score well so if you’re coming to learn a lot and do well, then great. If you’re looking for an easy experience overseas, then this is not the best option for you. You will have to work over weekends and public holidays to get your assignments done and study for mid terms, etc. It’s a good university but you may occasionally experience racist remarks as a brown person.
Likes (Safety): It’s generally safe for men and women; of course, there are occasional crimes. You can roam anywhere, day or night and are rarely the victim of harassment or robbery. That being said, as with any place, you have to take responsibility for your own safety.
Dislikes (Internships): There was not enough guidance or options. Not much support from the school to source internships. The school just invites companies to come set up booths and showcase, etc., but it works more for some faculties than others. If you are in engineering, then this would not be an issue for you.
