Student life in the US: Things to do in New York
If you are lucky enough to be in New York City for studies, you need to keep one thing in mind: explore the city. This is your chance to see the city we all have seen in Hollywood movies.
It is easy to become a tourist and go to the most popular places, but that isn’t called exploring. Don’t worry, we're here to tell you about the top 10 things tourists don't normally do. Walk around and discover new places along the way. Here is a good guide to help you start with the explorations.
1. Bike around at Central Park
Central Park is an 843 acres park full of views and beautiful flora. Since it is a huge place to explore on feet, you can rent a bike for two hours for $20. There are well-marked routes of 6.1, 5.2 or 1.7 kilometers, with a lot of things to see on the way. Attractions not to miss inside Central Park are Conservatory Water, the Alice in Wonderland sculpture, Belvedere Castle atop Vista Rock, and the Bow Bridge.
2. Stroll through West Village
New York’s West Village is a place where passing time couldn’t leave its mark. It is a neighbourhood of quaint cobblestone streets, where trees line the streets. The place has remained virtually unchanged since the 19th century and you get to see a century-old face of NY. Must visit places include Magnolia Bakery, where you get the best cupcakes ever; and Spotted Pig, a pub where you get cask-conditioned ale.
3. Grimaldi’s Pizzeria
You can't go wrong with Grimaldi's if you are running short of time and need to try an authentic NY pizza. It is a coal-fired pizzeria located under Brooklyn Bridge. The view of Manhattan from this oldest part of Brooklyn is something you will not forget easily. The jukebox plays only classics by Frank Sinatra, who was a great fan of Grimaldi’s.
4. Climb atop Statue of Liberty
