Great Education, Global Exposure
Tips: Student Experience Before joining, students should research the course structure, career opportunities, cost of living, and housing. I experienced a positive cultural shift after moving to Sweden, becoming more independent and adapting to a multicultural environment. I did not receive a scholarship. Overall, I'm highly satisfied with my university, course, and life in Sweden.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Quality of faculty are highly approachable and supportive, with good interaction outside lectures. Teaching combines theory with practical projects, simulations, and industry-relevant applications. The department also has a diverse faculty with people from many nationalities.
Dislikes (Part time work): Part-time opportunities are available both on and off campus, especially in retail, restaurants, logistics, and service roles. They can be managed alongside academics with proper planning, although balancing work during busy study periods can be challenging. Typical pay is around SEK 120–160 per hour.

Great study environment.
Tips: Have a mindset to mingle with the people over here to be active and adapt to a new country. Lots of scholarships are available but you have to search a lot to find those. For all international students during their first year of study, irrespective of their grades, they are offered a 5000 allowance for a year. I am satisfied with my course it was so advanced and lots of practical rather than theoretical.
Likes (Public transportation): The campus is at the centre of the city and the public transportation is really good to use. We do have frequent buses and trams with proper scheduled times. But it's not free for students, it costs like 700 for a student after the offer. Public transportation is too good to use, and we can reach our destination on time. It was really pleasant using public transportation in Sweden.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Now the job market was not so good. So it's a bit difficult for international students to land a job. But with effort, we can truly make it. Package: 35000-40000 for freshers. There is demand for the IT roles and there are lots of companies offering sponsorship but again have to research a lot.

Study paradise but job hunting nightmare.
Tips: I would say only people who know exactly what they want to study to improve their already existing knowledge should choose Chalmers. Not all courses are intensive. The courses are intended for you to be industry ready. Only a few Master's programs have theoretically intensive courses, but they are very much needed. I definitely grew a lot as a person. I had an absolutely amazing time attending lectures, which was not always the case in India during my bachelor's. I never missed any classes, even if there was a snowstorm outside. I would recommend mostly students who have worked 1-2 years in industry and have knowledge of what they would like to learn more about. This helps them get a better understanding overall during Master's and also will be job ready at the end of 2 years. If someone has just finished a bachelor's and wants to come, then I would rather ask them to try to make as many industry connections during the 2 years as possible. It is very difficult for them to find jobs.
Likes (Indian Food): Many good Indian restaurants, and I would rather cook myself and with my friends. There are multicultural restaurants in the city of Gothenburg. But it will be expensive. It is always good to have one or two meals outside in a month, but not more than that.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): I have had a great experience at the university with excellent faculty and study programs. I thoroughly enjoyed studying as someone who was really interested in Electric vehicles and how they are built. But due to the current bad situation in the job market with the automotive industry struggling to even keep their regular coffee machines, they do not want to hire fresh graduates as they think of them as a liability rather than an asset at the moment. Hopefully, it'll be better by 2027-2028. Most of the jobs offered are Test engineering jobs or verification engineering jobs. These are taken by more experienced engineers naturally. If lucky, you can get graduate engineering roles in some companies like Volvo, Sandvik, etc. But that is rare and more difficult. You could be the best of the lot, but still, they wouldn't select you, because they want to fill their diversity quotas.

Outstanding for learning future tech, industry exposure and very friendly professors.
Tips: The university is really good for learning and getting a taste of trending technology. Focus towards making connections with professors and industry people, who will help in understanding the job market after graduation. The university also has a very happening life, with student parties every month, trips to beautiful cities and a chance to see the northern light, a very sustainable approach to everything and a very friendly environment. Things can get challenging after graduation, as the college is not responsible for placing you; the student will have to make extra efforts by reaching out to recruiters on LinkedIn, attending job fairs, etc. To secure a job, most of the Swedes speak good English but learning Swedish is highly recommended to increase your chances of getting a job and better integrate with the natives.
Likes (Value for money): The teaching and the facilities in the university are excellent. They partner with the leading companies to make the projects and learning of students very industry ready. The professors are very friendly. You can also clear your doubts with them. Most of the projects are based on current and upcoming technologies, so this makes the student future ready. The campus also hosts a lot of fun events every week, including painting, dancing and personal development sessions but of course, they are paid. All departments also have their own well-equipped study rooms, party clubs and cafes, which let the student balance their academics with chill out sessions. The city is excellently planned, very clean and beautiful and it's mostly less crowded and well maintained.
Dislikes (Part time work): The number of part time jobs on campus was low at the time of my study. The Swedish language is a must to get a part time job. In winters, the weather gets very harsh with temperatures even dropping below -15 deg C, so delivery jobs are very tough. Also, during winters, the icing on the roads makes it very difficult for students working as delivery agents to commute or control their vehicles.

Tips: Try to understand their interest and plan for what comes after completing the course. There is plenty of competition limited job opportunity and you need to wait for a longer period and the salary is decent. Having some experience before heading for education helps them get a job early.
