- For Near-STEM students, the normal entry requirements for the programme are a good (2:1 or above) Honours Degree (or equivalent) in a STEM subject (e.g. Mathematics, Engineering, Physical Sciences etc). If a student has a relevant STEM degree, then they will be considered ‘Near-STEM’. They will be offered the opportunity to participate in the Data Science Core Skills bootcamp but will not be required to participate/attend. For Far-STEM students, the normal entry requirements for the programme are a good (2:1 or above) Honours Degree (or equivalent). The subject of the degree is not defined, since (a) many different, disparate subjects might have a Data Science relevance (e.g. Business, Geography), and (b) some students might possess a non- STEM degree but have relevant experience (e.g. from employment). For far-STEM students who do not possess a good Honours Degree or equivalent, applications will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. Applicants may be asked to submit a short portfolio providing evidence of: A basic level of numeracy (e.g. GCSE maths) Experience and competency with IT / software (e.g. use of Microsoft Excel) Experience of a basic interaction with data of any form (e.g. inputting values, making calculations, examining imaging, etc.)

The university is worth every penny.
Tips: If the university offers placement courses, try to choose a placement-based course so you can stay in school longer. Since every course is different and you can find the same course name with different focuses, make sure you choose the best fit for you. I would suggest that you do your homework and look at the curriculum before signing up for anything. You will have one more year as a student, which means you have more time to participate in school functions and to enjoy the student life and environment.

The college is really nice and the faculty are very helpful.
Tips: The first few months are difficult, but then you get used to life socially. It is a bit difficult if you come in winter as the daylight is low and it's very quiet outside. You may feel depressed sometimes, but summers are really good, and you will love it. There is only one Indian restaurant among all the English restaurants in the area. However, there are good food options in Edgware and Watford, which are easily accessible by public transportation. St. Albans is another good option, but it is a bit more expensive. Eventually, you will get used to eating English food. Overall, I am satisfied with the country.
Likes (Part time work): You can find part-time jobs easily in local social warehouses. When you come to London, you should have a good CV. You can get a part-time job in a warehouse, and the DHL warehouse is a good option. However, be careful, as some agencies may try to deceive you.

The faculty is knowledgeable and supportive, although there is room for more industry exposure.
Tips: There is no need for a cultural adjustment, as the majority of students are Indian and Asian. If you're looking to experience a new culture, it may be challenging in the UK, as you will mostly see familiar faces. Also, job opportunities after graduation are scarce.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The faculty is knowledgeable and supportive, although there is room for more industry exposure. They are approachable and open to discussions. Teaching methods include case studies, projects, and interactive approaches. The faculty has a moderate level of international diversity.
Dislikes (Public transportation): Public transportation is very costly, especially train travel. The cost makes it difficult for international students to afford, given the exchange rate. Additionally, some areas lack public transportation facilities, making travel challenging.

The university is academically oriented and has a strong academics.
Tips: The university has an excellent program for students. The teachers take very good care of the students. The staff members are always very helpful, caring, and supportive. My teachers always give students personal attention, so everyone is always clear about their work. I never got bored or homesick while attending the University of Hertfordshire. The campus is huge and there are lots of activities to do. The university provides all the resources you need to feel at home, happy, and safe. I'm very happy with my university. I've learned a lot, and I'm very satisfied with the course and the country. I'd like to learn more in my field of study, and I feel that my university has helped me a lot.

The technical programs are excellent, but some general courses may feel overwhelming.
Tips: Thoroughly research your chosen courses, as technical programs are excellent. Some general courses may feel overwhelming, but your course selection could significantly impact your future. Understand your motivations for pursuing this course.
Likes (Indian Food): There are many Indian restaurants and shops selling groceries, but they can be a bit pricey. Cooking for yourself is the best option, in my opinion. This allows you to control your expenses. Explore your options, as there are quality products available at cheaper prices.
Dislikes (Internships): Finding relevant internships for the field of study is challenging. The career guidance team offers minimal support for some courses, while others are very academically focused. University life will depend on the chosen course.
