History
The University of the Fraser Valley was established in 1974. It was founded as Fraser Valley College. In 1975, the college moved into the Marshall Road campus. Then in 1983, the first buildings on Abbotsford King Campus opened and in the same year, the first athletic teams of the college were launched. In 1988, the first set of international students arrived.
Finally, in 1991, the college gained university-college status and began using the name as the University College of Fraser Valley. Furthermore, in 1992, the first bachelor’s degree was launched. In 1996, the Nursing and Aviation degree launched at the Bachelor’s level. Then, in 2006, UFV joined Canadian Interuniversity Sport. In 2008, the University College of Fraser Valley upgraded to a full university and was called the University of the Fraser Valley.
