- Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree (BS, BA) in communication disorders from an accredited college or university or the evaluated equivalency. Applicants with degrees in other majors must complete a post-baccalaureate certificate program in communication disorders.
- An overall minimum cumulative or last 60/90 unit GPA of 3.0
- Completion of basic science requirements in biological sciences, physical sciences, statistics and social/behavioral sciences as required by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) 2021 Standard IV-A. In addition to ASHA standards, CBU requires the following courses to be completed with a “C” or better:
- Anatomy and Physiology of the Speech/Hearing Mechanism
- Speech and/or Hearing Science
- Normal Child Language Development/Typical Language Development
- Phonetics
- Aural Rehabilitation
- ASHA requires:
- One (1) Biological Science: Anatomy, Biophysics, Cell/Molecular Biology, Computational biology, Ecology, Environmental Biology, Forensic Biology, Genetics, Marine Biology, Microbiology, Molecular Biosciences, Neurobiology, Physiology and/or Zoology
- One (1) Physical Science; either Chemistry or Physics
- Statistics
