Q:   Does Central College give scholarships?
A: 

Central College claims to offer 99% of international students some sort of scholarship to help them with their studies. The scholarships range from USD 1,000 to USD 8,000 and can be renewed every year for a maximum of four years. International applicants are automatically considered for these scholarships (except the Ambassador Scholarship) so o separate application is required. All scholarships are merit-based.

Freshman Scholarship: This scholarship is offered to first-year undergraduate students who are enrolled in a full-time programme at the university. The scholarship is offered based on the academic merit of the students, and the eligibility is as follows:

International Baccalaureate Scholarship: A scholarship of USD 3,000 per academic year is offered to the students who complete the IB Diploma with a Grade 5 on a 7 scale. Students must have completed at least three IB examinations.

A-Level Scholarship: A scholarship of USD 3,000 is offered to international students who have completed at least three A-level examinations with a B average.

International Ambassador Scholarship: A scholarship of USD 8,000 is offered to the new and transfer students who have a 3.0 GPA on a scale of 4.0. Students are required to complete 20 hours of service at the college per semester for the scholarship.

Q:   Does Central College have an application fee?
A: 

Their online application makes it simple to apply to Central College. They do not demand standardized test scores because they feel that students are everything but standard. Your application fee and essay are completely waived.

Q:   Do you have to live on campus Central College?
A: 

As per college, living on the campus is an important part of the educational experience at Central. On-campus housing is also a great opportunity to make lasting friendships and share new learning experiences. It is mandatory for all students to stay on campus for all four years. As a resident student, you can choose from traditional residence halls or on-campus apartment options, such as Gaass Hall, Graham Hall, Hoffman Hall, Pietenpol Hall, Scholte Hall, Language Houses, McKee Hall (a.k.a. The Pods), or the Townhouses.  All the residences feature:

  • Basic furniture

  • High speed wireless internet access

  • Free laundry facilities

  • A hall kitchen

  • Cable television

Central College’s dining services offers a variety including European and Asian inspired buffet-style dining, Coffee, sandwiches and pastries at the Geisler Café. You can also try the Quick grab & go meals at Fred’s or choose any one of the different meal plans offered by the college.

Housing and Meals Cost

The basic charge for all on-campus residence units is USD 2,446 per semester. As per the general rule, two persons are allowed per room. An additional charge of USD 454 per semester is applied for a private room and USD 654 for a private double room. The college offers two meal plans which include:

Central College has a 79% acceptance rate. Half of the Central College applicants who submitted test scores have a SAT score between 1040 and 1218 or an ACT score between 19 and 26. However, one-fourth of approved applicants received scores that were higher than these ranges, while the other quarter received scores that were lower. Central College has a sliding application deadline. Central College admissions officers regard a student's GPA as a critical academic factor. Central College admissions staff evaluate an applicant's high school class rank, where available, as well as letters of recommendation.

Central College was established in 1853 as a private institution. It has 1,169 undergraduate students (fall 2022), a rural location, and a campus area of 200 acres.
