Established in the year 1878 by Spiritans, Duquesne University is one of the most prestigious Catholic universities in the United States.

Founded nearly 140 years ago as Pittsburgh Catholic College, the esteemed university is the one and only Spiritan institute of higher education in the country. The first class of the Pittsburgh Catholic College comprised of merely 40 students and six members of the faculty. Seven years later i.e. in 1885, the university's original "Old Main" building was set up. It is still actively used as the administrative building on campus In the year 1911, the university was renamed Duquesne University of the Holy Ghost and in the following year, the School of Law was founded, which is deemed to be university's first professional school. In the subsequent 30 years, the university witnessed significant development, as a result of which it established five more schools. In 2008, the university established a new building, which comprises a fitness center, retail shops, a bookstore, a restaurant, and banquet facilities.

The U.S. city of Pittsburgh, in which the prestigious university is situated, boasts of a vibrant and safe environment. It is also one of the most livable cities in the country and has a plethora of coffee shops, restaurants, green spaces, and music venues.

Duquesne University offers picturesque views of the city and its three rivers. It is also located in close proximity to downtown, while the Pittsburgh International Airport is also nearly half an hour away. Boasting nine schools, the university caters to approximately 9500 students. It also houses different centers and institutes, which are well-known for offering various research programs, cross-discipline learning, and instructional support. University's A.J. Palumbo Center conducts different events like fairs, concerts, and group assemblies.

Duquesne's Power Center houses a ballroom, well-equipped fitness center, and conference rooms. Apart from this, it is also home to a cafe and bookstore. University's nine schools of study offer programs in various fields of study to students, which range from undergraduate to masters to doctoral. Some of its graduate and professional programs are biomedical engineering, health sciences, education, and liberal arts. The university offers online programs too for the convenience of students.
