Georgia College was established in the year 1889 by Julia Flisch. Students can pursue undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs through its College of Arts and Science, the J.Whitnet Bunting College of Business, John H. Lounsbury College of Education, and the College of Health Sciences. TheBestCollege.org has recognized the university in the 'Top 25 Online Nurse Practitioner Master's Degrees' in 2018.
Forbes has also placed the university on the third position for the 'Top 6 Public Universities' in the state for 2019. The university's online MBA program was ranked 40th by the US News and World Report for 2020. The main campus is located in Milledgeville, Georgia, near the former state capital grounds. The campus houses all the academic halls, accommodation units, Greek housing, administrative buildings, and more. The College of Arts and Science department offers BA and BS in Art, Biology, Chemistry, Criminal Justice, Geography, History, Liberal Studies, Philosophy, and Political Science.
The department's graduate degree programs include MS in Biology and Criminal Justice, MFA in Creative Writing, MA in Teaching in Music Education, and MPA in Public Administration. Students can also choose from 43 different minors. The J. Whitney Bunting College of Business offers BBA in Accounting, Management, MIS, and Marketing, as well as a BS in Computer Science and Economics. Graduate-level degree programs of the department include MAcc in Accountancy, Online MBA, Logistics and Supply Chain Management courses, and Masters of MIS. There are nine minors and certifications too in the same specializations. The John H. Lounsbury College of Education offers many different award-winning degree programs. Undergraduate students can graduate with a BS in Early Childhood, Middle Grades Education, Special Education, and Pre-Education. At the graduate level, an M.Ed degree in Curriculum and Instruction, Early Childhood Education and Educational Leadership, and MAT in Special Education and Secondary Education, are available. There are 4 minors and certifications to choose from too.
The College of Health Sciences offers programs in Creative Arts Therapies and maintains the School of Health and Human Performance and School of Nursing under it. Accordingly, the department offers BSN in Nursing and Registered Nursing, BS in Public Health and Exercise Science, and BMT in Music Therapy. Postgraduate degrees include MS in Athletic Training, Health, and Human Performance, MAT in Kinesiology, MMT in Music Therapy and Masters in Nursing.
