Applicants for graduate admission must meet the following university minimum requirements to be considered:
- Earned a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in the United States, or the equivalent of this degree from another country.
- Demonstrated ability to pursue graduate work successfully. Graduate programs generally require an undergraduate grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
- Prerequisites:
- Good performance in undergraduate statistics will strengthen an application. This coursework should include SAS and be equivalent to STA 216 at GVSU. Completion of this course and other statistics courses is recommended either concurrent with an application or later. Some other programming language experience is advantageous as part of an application (R, Python etc.) but it is not required. Quantitative/data-oriented work experience would also be considered relevant but is not required
- Minimally, an application should have good performance in each of STA 215 and STA 216 at GVSU (or equivalents at other universities). An application is strengthened, and acceptance is more likely if there is good academic performance in additional Applied Statistics courses at the undergraduate level (e.g., STA 321, STA 310, STA 315 at GVSU or equivalents at other universities). A conditional admission decision may allow one or more of these additional statistics courses to be concurrent with graduate courses.
