Southern Methodist University Admissions 2025: Application Deadline, Requirements & Costs

GRE is required for postgraduate programs such as Ph.D. The minimum score required at SMU in GRE is 160 on the scale of 600 and 3.5 on the GRE analytic test with a minimum GPA of 3.5. There is no set expectation for the Ph.D programs, although the university demands a quantitative test. If look at the previous year's data, most applicants have scored an average verbal GPRE of 164 on the scale of 670, an analytic score of 4.5 with an undergraduate GPA of 3.7.

SMU expects a band score of a minimum of 6.5 in IELTS. Along with IELTS, students must submit PTE, TOEFL, and Duolingo scores to prove their proficiency in the English language. Scoring good marks in English proficiency scores can benefit students coming from other countries to gain admission to any US university. The Southern Methodist University application fee is USD 60 (INR 5K) for international students. Students must submit the non-refundable application fee at the end of their application. Before that, they must submit academic records, recommendation letters, English proficiency scores, standardized scores, transcripts, and many more.
