Q:   Can an average Indian student join The Juilliard School?
A: 

It will be quite difficult for an average Indian student to join The Juilliard School because of some obvious reasons. The acceptance rate of The Juilliard School is 10%. It is a renowned institution for performing arts and getting into Juilliard is highly competitive. Although it does not require any SAT or ACT scores for admission it does require outstanding artistic skills. Students have to give some pre-screening materials online, and then only shortlisted applicants are called for auditions. It is a pre-requisite for admission to the college. Apart from this Indian students being non-native English speakers have to qualify for English Proficiency tests like TOEFL or IELTS.

Deadlines for students applying to The Juilliard School are as follows:

  • BFA or MFA in Acting: Apply by November 1 (prescreened applicants) and December 1 (non-prescreened applicants)
  • AD in Opera Studies: Apply by November 1
  • AD in Playwriting: Apply by November 1
  • BFA in Dance:  Apply by December 1
  • All other Music degrees: Apply by December 1

Generally, The Juilliard School does not accept late applications but if there are still openings for auditions after all timely candidates have been scheduled, the Office of Admissions will take late applications into consideration.

Q:   Is it hard to get admission at The Juilliard School?
A: 

Admission at Juilliard is quite tough. Even if applicant fulfill the requirements for admission, chances of being accepted are very low. The acceptance rate of Juilliard School is only 10%. The Juilliard School has not reported high school GPA data for its accepted students.Submission of SAT or ACT scores is not required by The Juilliard School. The school has a test-blind policy. However, an applicant's high school class rank is not considered, but letters of recommendation are considered by admissions officials at Juilliard School. Auditions are done for admission to respective fields and before coming for the live auditions applicants have to submit pre-screening materials showcasing their skills.

Q:   What is the application fee of The Juilliard School?
A: 

The Juilliard School charges a non-refundable fee of $110 (INR 9229.05) which students have to submit along with the application form. If the application fee is not submitted, the application will not be considered. Students can pay the online fee online using credit/debit cards or PayPal. If a first-time college student has substantial financial need, they can request a fee waiver by uploading one of the following documents to the application- an official SAT or ACT fee waiver form signed by a high school counselor or an official NACAC fee waiver form signed by a high school counselor. Some other fee waiver criteria are also mentioned on the college official website.
