History
University of Wisconsin-Madison was approved by Wisconsin's first governor through the Incorporation Act of 1848 and later in 1951, North Hall was opened. The Wisconsin Alumni Association was founded in 1861 and the first set of women students were admitted to the university in 1863. Bachelor's Degrees were offered to women in 1869 and the university had established the country's first magnetic observatory in 1876.
