Wake Forest University History
The Wake Forest University, which now stands as one of the oldest institutions of higher learning in North Carolina, can be traced back to the year 1834, when the Wake Forest Manual Labor Institute was founded in Wake Forest, NC.
The institute was renamed to Wake Forest College in 1938. The Z Smith Reynolds Foundation, invited the school to establish its new campus in Winston-Salem, the home of the RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company, which granted land for the establishment of the university. Construction began on the Wake Forest University campus, in 1952, and the campus finally opened in 1956.
The campus, based on the RJ Reynolds Estate, was renamed to the Wake Forest University in 1967. Today, the place houses more than 9,000 students, including international students from more than 38 countries.

Wake Forest University Indian Student Association
The Wake Forest University, is home to the Hindu Student Association (HSA), a on campus organization, that strives to create an environment for all students, to explore the Hindu culture, festivals, discuss spirituality and learn more about what it is like to be a Hindu. The HSA funds a number of events for other students to attend, free of cost.
