Undergraduate Indian Students at Loughborough
Tips: Didn't face any culture shock when I shifted, but I think it's because I'm just like that. There is a huge Indian community here; they are really sweet and have amazing events and are really sweet and accommodating. Every year many students from India do come here, so you wouldn't be alone.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The teachers are nice. They are extremely helpful and polite. Obviously this is university, and you don't actually have much conversation with them, but still they support you with different things. I haven't seen much racism here from the faculty. The careers network is also useful.
Dislikes (Part time work): Off-campus opportunities are less, especially if you are trying in Loughborough. But if you look at Leicester and are willing to travel there, it's fine then. Leicester is a town nearby; you can go by bus, which is not that expensive, but it depends on the person if they are willing to travel. I recommend getting a bank contact where you have the flexibility to go when you want. They call you and inform you of availability.

Strong Opportunity That Cultivates Growth
Tips: Students should know that the university offers a very independent learning environment compared to what many international students may be used to. Time management, self-discipline, and being proactive with academics, networking, and career opportunities are very important. The campus infrastructure, facilities, student support and extracurricular opportunities are excellent especially for sports and student life. However students should also realistically understand the current UK job market and plan early for internships, placements, networking and skill development if they are aiming for post-study employment. At the same time, opportunities (such as part-time work and research projects by the University) are not always handled to you automatically. Students who actively follow up, network, and show initiative tend to benefit the most. For example, I was able to get involved in a university-liked research project because I consistently followed up and stayed engaged with the opportunity rather than waiting for it to come to me. I would also recommend making full use of the university support systems, such as academic tutors, careers services, societies, social events, and wellbeing resources, as they genuinely help students settled in and get the most out of the experience. Don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone.
Likes (Quality of faculty): I gave the faculty a full 5/5 because the professors were seriously amazing—super knowledgeable, easy to talk to, and always had our backs. The teaching style was really engaging, and having great campus facilities to back it up made a huge difference. A lot of the lecturers actually brought real-world experience into the room, including former athletes, alumni, and industry pros who are still connected to the university.
I also loved how open they were to just sitting down for a chat or giving feedback outside of normal lecture hours. On top of that having a personal academic tutor was a lifesaver. They’d regularly check in to see how we were coping with the workload and life in general offering one-on-one help whenever we needed it. Plus, being able to run through our coursework outlines with the examiners beforehand was huge—it took away the guesswork and showed us exactly how to lock in better grades.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): I only gave it a 2/5 because trying to crack the UK job market right now is an absolute nightmare if you're an international student. It’s especially brutal for fresh graduates who actually need visa sponsorship. Sure, the uni has things like career fairs and counseling, but at the end of the day, you're completely stuck dealing with terrible market conditions and companies that just refuse to sponsor.
It’s way easier to just land a short 6-month contract, but honestly, that’s just a temporary band-aid. It doesn't actually solve the long-term issue of getting a stable visa.

Great college and value for money but country for job is not great
Tips: Cultural shift, yes—experiencing mingling with people from abroad has definitely changed my perspective. I didn't get any scholarship. I'm really satisfied with the university and course, but I'm not really satisfied with the country because a visa-sponsoring job wasn't really available, and I always felt like I was an outsider.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Teaching and curriculum are great compared to India. The way the teacher teaches and approaches is really great. Since there is no strictness about attendance and teachers just teach and mind their business, it gives us the freedom to utilize the time how we want.
Dislikes (Internships): I haven't tried for an internship but all I know is that it's not that easy to get internship and university help isn't all that great. I have tried a little for internships but since part time was possible I went but now thinking back I should have tried going for internships because that would have boosted my career.

Diverse learning environment.
Tips: I had a hard time when I arrived at the university. I was homesick and the style of teaching is also quite different from India. Later when I made friends and adapted to the course and learnt how to write my papers it was much easier.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): I’m not somebody who wants to stay here long term. Permanent settlement options for those who do are great. Coming from India, it seems a little dull and gloomy at times. There are many great opportunities for students and immigrants if you’re a hard worker.

A great university with world class infrastructure and sports.
Tips: Please do your research, connect with the alumni who are still there in the UK and also the ones who've left. Know about the current market. Loughborough is well known for sports in the world, and scholarships for business studies are given on the basis of work experience.
Likes (Student Life): Loughborough University is very student-friendly, with tons of activities going on throughout the year. Students can also become student ambassadors for their courses, and the university also offers a lot of good part-time job options. The university has multiple student bodies, and each one has its own club. If you're interested, you can join the one that's right for you.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Loughborough University is located in a small university town with limited Indian food choices. However, the town is quite close to Leicester, which offers plenty of options for Indian food. Loughborough has a good number of pubs and also a good number of Indian restaurants, and some supermarkets and small Asian stores where you can pick up all your favourite Indian groceries.
