Staffordshire University History
The university’s roots can be traced to 1914, to the establishment of North Staffordshire Technical College in 1926. The college was established to impart technical education in science to students. The college became popular among the regional population and played an important role during the world wars in the training of students. In 1971, the North Staffordshire Polytechnic was created by the merger of the College with Stoke-on-Trent College of Art and Staffordshire College of Technology. The Polytechnic College became the University of Staffordshire in 1992.
