History
Golden Gate University was established in 1901 and is one of the oldest non-profit universities in California. The university started as a night school primarily by the San Francisco YMCA in the early 1850s. Over the years the university has worked towards helping students achieve professional goals by offering a variety of undergraduate and graduate education across multiple areas of interest such as Law, Business, Taxation, Technology, and many more. Over the years the university gained significant recognition across multiple areas and had one of the best collegiate swim teams in the West in the 1930s. Finally, in 1972, GGU San Francisco gained the university status.
