A smooth transition with strong academics and supportive culture.
Tips: Students should know that Lehigh University offers strong academics and a supportive environment. While there is a cultural shift from my home country, I adapted quickly with help from my peers. The merit scholarship I received eases the burden of tuition. The system is highly efficient, affordable, and well-integrated. The campus is well connected to the rest of the city through buses, trams, and metro lines, which run frequently and on time. Most areas can be reached with minimal transfers, and the routes are student-friendly. Monthly or semester travel passes are available at discounted rates, making it cost-effective for daily commuting. Public transport is clean, safe, and reliable, which greatly enhances mobility for students without the need for personal vehicles. Overall, I'm very much satisfied with both my course of study and the country.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): While the country offers structured pathways for international graduates to apply for permanent residence, the process can be lengthy and competitive depending on the region and field of study. My chances of permanent settlement are fair, especially given the demand in tech and engineering sectors, but it requires careful planning and meeting specific eligibility criteria. Given the opportunity, I would be open to permanently immigrating here due to the high quality of life, career prospects, and multicultural environment. However, navigating the legal and administrative steps can be a challenge for many students.

Tips: Students should know that Lehigh University offers a rigorous academic environment balanced with strong faculty support and career opportunities. Transitioning here involves adapting to an independent and fast-paced system, but the university offers ample resources to help with that shift. There is a cultural difference in terms of communication styles and classroom engagement, but it's an enriching experience that helps build confidence and critical thinking. Students are encouraged to be proactive, ask questions, and collaborate with peers from diverse backgrounds. Lehigh also offers various clubs, events, and student services that help international students adjust smoothly. Overall, it's a place where academic and personal growth go hand in hand.
Likes (Internships): Lehihg University's faculty truly stand out. The professors are not only experts in their fields but also highly approachable and supportive. They actively encourage students' participation, welcome questions, and offer one-on-one mentorship. What I find unique is the emphasis on practical learning, which involves many projects, industry-relevant assignments, and collaborative problem-solving. Hands-on methodology prepares students for real-world challenges. The faculty is also internationally diverse, with professors from various academic and cultural backgrounds. The diversity brings a global perspective into the classroom and enriches discussions, making the learning environment more inclusive and dynamic.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Although the US provides clear pathways for students to stay temporarily through OPT and STEM extensions, my primary goal is to return to my home country after completing my education. The US does offer long-term immigration routes like the H-1B visa, and many students do choose to settle here permanently. However, in my case, I view my time in the US as an opportunity to gain a world-class education and international exposure. I plan to take the knowledge, skills, and experience gained at Lehigh back to my home country to contribute to its growing tech and innovation sectors. While permanent settlement is a possibility for many, my personal preference is to use this academic journey to build a strong foundation for impactful work back home. That said, I appreciate the US system for providing flexibility in career and immigration decisions.
