Excellent college, good facilities, enjoyable fests, but hard academics.
Placements: Approximately 70% of the students of Mechanical Engineering got placed in 2024–25. The average package is 20 Lacs per annum. The top recruiting companies are Tata, Mahindra, and L&T. Nearly 50% of the students got internships in automobile and sales companies.
Infrastructure: The lecture halls are excellent, fully furnished, and equipped with AC. There are different labs for various purposes, equipped with computers for student use. A vast library is also available for the use of students and faculty, with a large number of books. The hostel has all the facilities for mess and sports. The quality of food being served in the mess is above average. Medical facilities are also provided on campus, with an ambulance available whenever needed
Faculty: Professors are very helpful and knowledgeable. They teach each topic briefly and encourage doubts. The course curriculum is relevant prepares students to work at the industrial level. Semester exams are much harder compared to other colleges. The pass percentage is nearly 70%.
Other: I chose this course because of my interest, and also I got this only from my JEE Advanced rank. This course enables you to solve real life problems in the industry. Several fests are organized on campus through out the year, like sports fest, cultural fest, and tech fest. Scholarships are provided for students. There are many clubs and societies for extracurricular activities, from media and culture to science and technology.

Review from undergraduate of IIT Kanpur.
Placements: I am in the mechanical engineering department of IIT Kanpur. There are 150 students in my department. More than 1,200 students are placed in my batch for the year 2022. The highest package is 4 crores per annum and the lowest package ranges from 6-8 LPA. Companies like Google, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, Nvidia, Texas Instruments, and Adobe are some big companies that visit the college for placements. Around 50 to 60% of students got internships on the campus. Companies that came for internships are mostly the same who came for placements here. Roles like software, core, finance, data analytics, etc., are offered.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good here. It provides big lecture halls with all the facilities and labs with all the facilities. It has a huge library with every book we need to study. We will get every facility in the hostel itself like a canteen and mess. The quality of food is also good here. For medical facilities, we have a health center here where we can go if we have any problems. Sports facilities are also good here. We have three big grounds for hockey, cricket, and football. It has a sports complex for indoor games like badminton, table tennis, yoga, etc.
Faculty: Faculty members of IIT Kanpur are highly educated. Their teaching quality is pretty good and it also depends on faculty to faculty. The course curriculum is a bit difficult here, and it will make us ready for any industry. Semester exams are not that difficult, and if we study we can achieve good marks or good grades in our courses. Grading is relevant here so I cannot say the exact percentage where we will be passing in any course. At 30%, we will be considered as passed in every course.
Other: I chose the B.Tech in mechanical department course because it is better than all the other options and I got it through my rank. I do not think there is anything to improve, and everything is good here. Many events are conducted on campus just like fests. We have two or three major festivals like an annual technical, an annual cultural festival, and a sports fest. The annual technical first name is Techkriti, the annual cultural fest name is Antaragni, and the annual sports fest name is Udghosh. Connectivity is moderate. We have a metro line just outside the campus so if we want to go anywhere we can use that. We have a scholarship on MCM where students' tuition fee is waived if their annual parental income is less than 6 lakhs. There are many extracurricular activities like sports, fine, arts, dance, music, etc.

Best campus life and best course if you are eager to study.
Placements: Finance, consulting, field engineering, product, SDE, core companies, etc., are recruiting. About 80%+ students get placed. The highest package is around 1 Cr, the lowest is around 10 LPA and the median is around 20-22 LPA. Top recruiters are SLB, Finmechanics, Meesho, JLR, ITC, HUL, BCG, Nestled, etc. Around 40-50% students get internships.
Infrastructure: The courses offered here are well-structured and cater to a wide range of academic interests, ensuring a good learning experience. The faculty members are knowledgeable and supportive, fostering an environment that encourages curiosity and growth. The curriculum is rigorous yet balanced, preparing students for both academic and professional challenges.
Faculty: Faculty do strict grading but courses and their content are good. The strict grading policy sometimes feel harsh for you, but the course content is too notch there may be some boring lectures but there can be some interesting subjects and choice of selecting open electives and department electives is the best thing you can explore other department and even MBA courses with this.

Very good infrastructure of the campus. Best professors and high packages.
Placements: Over 85% of students were placed by the end of phase 1 of the placement drive. The highest package was 1.43 crores per annum (international), 1.12 crores per annum (India); the average was 20–25 LPA; the lowest was 2.5 LPA. Top recruiting companies were Microsoft, Google, JLR, Bajaj Auto, Tata Motors, ITC, and BCG. About 75% of the students got internships in companies like Axxela, Google, Microsoft, JP Morgan, Graviton, Oracle, and Texas Instruments. The roles were mainly for quant and software engineers.
Infrastructure: Our classrooms are very big, fully air-conditioned, and have smart panels. There are 20 lecture halls, each with a varied capacity ranging from 150 to 1,200 students. The academic area has Wi-Fi all around. The hostels are very old yet maintained properly. The mess is good; the quality of food is good; you can never complain about it.
Faculty: The professors are more than qualified. They are very helpful; some are very good at teaching. The teaching quality is excellent. One cannot complain about the teaching style and curriculum. But with good teachers come even harder exams. The exams are very tough in the mechanical department.

Review of IIT Kanpur - Indian Institute of Technology.
Placements: Amazing placements are here. It's the best college for mechanical engineering students all over India. The average package is around 24 lacs, while the highest is always above one crore. Also, most of the students get internships in their third year, which leads to PPO.
Infrastructure: Amazing hostels, beautiful, lush green campus, etc. are there. The infrastructure is very great. We have a huge library and the lecture hall complex here. The mess food is also very good here. The medical facilities are very great. We have each and every sport in our college.
Faculty: The faculty here are very well qualified, highly knowledgeable and experienced. But sometimes its hard to learn from them. The course curriculum is very great as it directly makes students industry-ready. The exams are held very often and have a very high level of difficulty.

Good Infrastructure, Tough Academics.
Placements: Talking about percentage, 80 percent of the total students get placed. The highest package is 2 crore, the lowest is 5 lakhs, and the average is 20 lakhs. Jaguar is one of the top recruiting companies in mechanical engineering. About 35 percent of students got internships.
Infrastructure: Various facilities are available. There is Wi-Fi connection all over the campus 24/7. Various study buildings are available for our branch. Classrooms are spacious, and labs are well-advanced with new equipment. However, hostel facilities are poor, and the food quality is very degraded.
Faculty: Teachers here are called professors. They are much more qualified than the content of the topic and teach at a high level, thinking of us at their own level. The course curriculum is somewhat relevant but not fully. Exams are very difficult.

Review of IIT Kanpur - Indian Institute of Technology.
Placements: The placement percentage of my course is around 80%. The top recruiting companies are Microsoft, Tech Mahindra, and many more. The highest package in my course is generally around 50-60 LPA, the lowest was around 7 LPA, and the average package was around 15 LPA.
Infrastructure: My college has unlimited Wi-Fi services, and there are 20 air-conditioned lecture halls. There are separate department buildings for each department. There is an air-conditioned library on the campus, which has a high variety of books. The hostels are very spacious and clean. There are 14 hostels with increasing capacity. The quality of mess food is also good. There is a health center on the campus. Sports facilities are very vast on the campus.
Faculty: The teachers here are Ph.D. scholars and have a very nice experience in their respective domains. The professors always try to provide all the important and needful things to the students. They make the students ready for industrial work. Yes, I felt that the course curriculum was perfect and up to the mark. The semester exams are mostly based on conceptual things. There is a policy of relative grading in the exams.
Other: This course was of personal interest to me as I find it very interesting and fun. The best part of the course is in the domain of mechatronics and robotics. As I am currently in my first year, I cannot suggest any changes in the course teaching. There are three main fests on the campus, i.e., Techriti - Technical fest, Udghosh - Sports fest, and Antaragni - Cultural fest. There is a wide variety of events conducted on the campus. The campus is very wide and large, with a green and clean environment. The total number of students is nearly 9000.
