History
The University of Northern British Columbia was established in 1990 with its main campus located in Prince George. The university was officially established after the Provincial Legislature passed Bill 40, the UNBC Act. On August 17, 1994, Queen Elizabeth II visited the main campus of the UNBC to officially inaugurate the university and three weeks later the university had an enrollment of over 1400 students. Over the years the university continued to develop and secure multiple prestigious awards. UNBC won its first award for excellence as a place to work in 2012. The University of Northern British Columbia is focused on building and nurturing relationships and offers academic excellence along with exceptional faculty.
