Q:   What is the IELTS score required for UNBC?
A: 

The University of Northern British Columbia sets rigorous English Proficiency requirements to ensure academic excellence and effective communication to ensure academic excellence for both UG and PG courses. UG applicants must have a minimum IELTS score of 6.5, a TOEFL iBT score of 90 or higher, with a writing sub score of 20 or more. Students can also submit a Duolingo English Test score of 105 or above. These requirements are also applicable to engineering courses. Graduate students must achieve a minimum IELTS score if 6.5, a TOEFL iBT score of 92 or higher. Below is the table for ELP’s

Q:   What are the eligibility requirements for international students seeking admission to University of Northern British Columbia?
A: 

Students who complete their studies at a relevant high school and/or recognized post-secondary institution will be considered for admission. International applicants must be in good standing and demonstrate an acceptable level of proficiency in English. UNBC has country-specific academic requirements, thus, for Indian aspirants the requirements are as follows:

Undergraduate Admission

Students must have Class 12 or Standard XII Board Examination results issued by examination boards, such as ISC, GCSE, AISSCE, etc. For general entry, students should have a minimum average grade of 50% or higher in English Class 12, three academic subjects, and an elective. Apart from this, students who have a three-year diploma issued by a state board of education will also be accepted. A minimum average grade of 50% or higher is required for general entry.


Additionally, any one of these English proficiency test score is required:

English requirements can also be fulfilled if the student has:

  • A final grade of 75% (B) or better in a university transferable English course, or
  • Completed two full years of full-time degree level studies or equivalent at a recognized institution where English is the language of instruction.

Graduate Admissions

Indian graduate applicants should possess any of these academic qualifications from a university or institution accredited by India's National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with a grade of A or better. GRE or GMAT may be required as per course requirements.
