If applicant have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Artificial Intelligence, or in a Computer Science-related programme from a foreign research university with a level similar to Dutch universities, applicant are eligible to apply under the condition that applicant have accumulated at least 90 EC (or the equivalent thereof) in courses/projects in the domain of Computer Science.

The Board of Admissions will assess whether applicantr degree and background are sufficiently related to the level and content of the Dutch BSc degree in Computer Science.

• Leiden University’s BSc in Computer Science offers a well-rounded curriculum designed to build a strong foundation in both theoretical and practical aspects of computing. The program begins with core subjects such as Algorithmics, Databases, Digital Systems Design, Logic, and Programming in languages like Java, C++, and Python. Students then advance to more complex areas such as Advanced Programming Techniques, Discrete Mathematics, Analysis, and Linear Algebra, with each course typically awarding 6 ECTS credits (1 ECTS = 28 hours of study).

• The curriculum also includes essential computer science topics like Concepts of Programming Languages, Computer Architecture, Automata Theory, Operating Systems, and Statistics. Specialized fields are covered through courses in Security, Artificial Intelligence, Data Structures, Turing Machines, Computational Complexity, and Software Engineering.

• Further, students explore advanced and applied areas through courses like Computer Graphics, Data Mining, Concurrency Theory, Compiler Construction, Computational Linguistics, Computer Networks, Data Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Video Game Development, Natural Computing, Program Correctness, and Requirements Engineering. The diverse curriculum equips students with both theoretical insights and hands-on experience, preparing them for a wide range of roles in technology and research.
