Kursk State Medical University History
The Kursk State Medical University was established after the order of the People's Commissariat of the RFSFR was implemented by the general committee of the Kursk Regional Board of the deputies Soviet.
The University campus was established in 1940, the same year, that saw the first graduation ceremony of 186 physicians. Studies were halted by World War II in 1941, with around 32 lecturers going off at the war front. Their efforts were recognized via orders and medals for valour.
1944, witnessed the restart of classes. The rest of the 20th century, saw the expansion of the university, into what it is today.
