Warrnambool has the lowest entry-level on-campus rent, starting from AUD 239 a week for 2026 (about INR 15,800). Waurn Ponds follows at about AUD 242, while Burwood and Waterfront sit higher at AUD 279 and AUD 296 respectively, based on Shiksha's campus listings.

International students in Australia can work up to 48 hours per fortnight on a student visa, and Shiksha lists a two-year post-study work permit after graduation. Melbourne's larger job market gives Burwood students more openings than Geelong or Warrnambool, though work hours are the same everywhere

Yes. Deakin runs a free intercampus bus between Waterfront and Waurn Ponds on weekdays, departing every 30 minutes. Students can also use the limited free Park and Go bays at Waurn Ponds, then continue to Waterfront by bus, which avoids paid permit parking in central Geelong.

Burwood is about a 30-minute drive from the Melbourne CBD. Geelong Waterfront is roughly 75 km away, just over an hour by V/Line train, while Waurn Ponds is about 85 km away. Warrnambool is the most distant at around 250 km, with trains from Geelong taking about two hours twenty.

No single campus suits every student. Waurn Ponds fits engineering and medicine, Waterfront fits architecture, construction and nursing, Warrnambool fits marine biology, and Burwood offers the widest range with Melbourne access. The course usually decides first, followed by budget and lifestyle.
